Wayne's escaped - the FA confirmed Clattenberg has told them he felt he'd dealt with it by awarding a freekick. Can't impose any further punishment now the ref's said he saw it.

Bertatov can create, and if Hernandez was getting the games instead of Rooney I'm sure that would happen.

Hernandez doesn't have enough confidence to hold on to the ball or take on players yet.

which is one of the stupidest rules ever ...

any player who does that should be banned for a few matches ... would have set a heck of a precedent if the FA had the balls to amend the rules and make an example of this case ...

anyway, at least everyone can see / has seen what actually happened to judge the obvious for themselves ... and they can also judge Ferguson's comments made about the incident and about the apparent bias against his star player ... "disgraceful" just about sums both cases for me ...

I give kudos to those fan in this forum who have condemned the action of your player, and questioned the comments made by your manager ...

English players, especially England internationals always get away with these. Same like Gerrard when he beat someone in a pub 2 years back. If it was Nani or any other foreigner he would've got a 3 match ban.

Ferguson did the right thing. Every manager should be doing the same. We all know what happened between Rooney and Ferguson behind the scenes.

I was hoping he'd get a ban.

It'd be totally different if it was a foul on the ball or just a case of him playing hard and making a poor tackle...but this was completely off the ball and not within the context of the game. You can't just go around throwing elbows like that.

Perhaps it was the "right" thing to say, but to say there was nothing in the challenge is total bullsh*t. That was unprovoked aggression and it should have led to a suspension.

Yeah it should have. Either FA dropped a ball on this one (or felt that we were made example of one too many times in the past) or Mark Clattenburg is a closet United fan (which he very well might be).

We should be careful with the "unprovoked" challenge words though. None of us know exactly what is said on the field between players. I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney WAS actually provoked by some rants. Remember Materazzi vs Zidane?

no ... if he said "no comment", then that would've been fine, and would've been the "right" thing if he didn't want to condemn his own player in public ... but what he said was not right ...

Zidane was both fined and banned ... it "didn't matter" coz he had retired, but the punishment was still doled out ... also, if Rooney was provoked, and McCarthy admits to saying something to that effect (like Matrix did in the Zidane case), then McCarthy would get a fine and a ban too, albeit a lesser one (coz words are words, violence is violence) ...

By saying "no comment" he would have also communicated that he is not really behind his player (even if the player is wrong). This way Ferguson takes some of the bad rap and attention away from Rooney.

Of coarse, I'm just saying that we have no idea what kind of verbal exchange these guys go through. I believe the reason Materazzi admitted to saying something was because Zidane called him out on that. But i'm sure there is lots of bad mouthing going on between players on a regular basis. Its not like they every player will do an interview each week describing the stuff he said on the field after every game. Rooney should have been punished, but we just can't say for sure that it was "unprovoked".

firstly, there's no excuse for resorting to violence ... none ...

asking the players if anything was said would be one way of sorting it out this grey of provocation you are getting at ...

the press may not do so, but the FA certainly could have ascertained the truth at a hearing, if they had the courage to amend the rules to supercede the referee, and go on the clear video evidence ...

God Hernandez is fast. He closes distances in no time at all and goes from standing still to top speed almost instantly.

Come on boys!! Good first half. Chelsea couldnt handle our passing and movement. Ivanovic is a bitch!. Turning into a thug to intimidate nani. Nani is been brilliant..tormenting the bitch left right centre.

I do feel we need another because chelsea will get a penalty..unjust free kick ..or something from the ref.

Martin Atkinson strikes again! 2nd time in a row he ****ed us at the Bridge. How did David Luiz manage to not get sent off and Vidic did? Penalty was bull**** too, Rooney was tripped in the box in the first half the same way.

**** off...as usual chelsea get a mandatory penalty. We did not deserve to lose. I am pissed as hell. Ref bottled it big time. Luiz should have been sent off.

Martin atkinson should be demoted. He got all the big decisions wrong. and screw the commentators especially ethnic cocu. bunch of biased assholes
