I'm not sure but Scholes, looks like a shadow of his former self. That's one of our biggest problems, creativity in the centre of midfield, and Quinton Fortune, the great Winger coming off the bench, to put fear into the hearts of the world's best defenders.

I dont think chopping up the squad right now will change much really. Our victory in 98/99 was a culmanation of the team playing together for a few years and reaching their peaks. Players like giggs, keane, scholes, stam and scmeichel all played out of their minds. I mean how many times did we try to win the CL in the 90s even with Cantona in the squad?

We're not gonna win anything unless the team plays together for a while and can play off each other. I just want Klebs to get a longer run in the team, and I wouldn't mind signing essien or gattuso to help shore up the midfield a bit. I also wouldn't mind another winger.

I'm interested to see what our youth scheme holds for us, with players like the wonderkid Rossi, N'galula, spector and Pique.

are they really red's fans
or just pure glory hunters?

Scholes has been playing deeper then he's used to because Keane can't really command the midfield by himself anymore, thus we have Scholes having to play the role of a second defensive midfielder at times thus reducing his attacking freedom. This also will allow us to get overun in the midfield at times as Scholes is playing out of position mostly.

It's not two or three years ago when we were always playing with the two more natural defensive midfeilders in Keane and Phil Neville, then having Ole and Giggs on the wings, with Scholes playing just off van Nistelrooy. We've had to change our system to accomodate new players like Rooney and Ronaldo, and until we find the right balance once again, we'll continue to suffer.

we dont change our system to accomodate players
the players are supposed to benefit the system
anyway fergie bought players who dont suit the system
now we need to use awkward tactics to fit the new guys
thus we continue to suffer
sort it out sir alex!

The 4-5-1 would've been useless against Milan today, we wouldn't have had a sniff at goal.

Accomodating new players has been tough, but I think we have unbalanced our own squad (the board/Ferguson) from being too greedy. Why have 4 strikers for example? Why Rooney AND Smith? Now we have surplus in the final 3rd, but holes in the centre.

This is not chopping up the team, its levelling it. I think players will have to be sold in the summer just for the sake of balance.

I beleive a player of Kleberson's status is needed more than ever now, where he can play that Utility role Nicky Butt left, setting up crossess through balls, and holding the ball.

Saha, Bellion, Miller and Kleberson will more than likely be gone in the summer. That will make things less complicated I'd imagine, but then we'd still have to buy a suitable replacement for Keane, and more than likely a good goalkeeper.

like i said in the early season, we have too many players in the squad. this made other players spent most of their times on bench.

we should sell some players we don't need and only buy the player we really need

How much funds will we receive for selling Saha, Bellion, Miller, Kleberson? How much might we need for a Keane replacement and a new goalie?

how much will we get if we are going to sell them?

saha, he has the quality, but he is injury prone, and there is not much space for him to play with the presence of rooney, why dont we let him stay for a longer while? i think he can only bring us about 5m if we really sell him

bellion, you guys all say he is rubbish. So, who would spend money for this rubbish? we should let him stay other then giving him out for free. i dont think we can get more than 1m for this lad

miller? i didn't see him play much, but is he really that crap? i heard good things from him when he was in celtic. actually there is space for him to play, he is a natural central midfielder. fergie should stop playing him at the right wing and should give him more chances to play in the middle with keane. it is stupid to play scholes every match and suddenly play some young lad when scholes is injured or something and then people say that those kids suck, because he didnt get enough match practise.

kleberson, I think he is a real quality midfielder despite his injury problem. he is even better than fletcher as the central midfielder role IMO. he shoudl be given his chance more often, when he is not injured, in the middle, not on the right. he aint a winger.

Ok let's see....

Saha, as much as I like the guy, he's not gonna get a consistent run in the team with Rooney around, and it would be a good move to let him go in the summer ( it will more than likely happen ) Added to that, he just gets injured too damn often for my liking, I doubt he's played three consecutive matches this season.

Even if we could get 10,000 pounds for Bellion, I'd take it, he's that rubbish. Only good thing he has is pace and he has no idea how to use it.

When we bought Miller, alot of people were tipping him to be the eventual successor to Keane, but in his time here he has done nothing to show me he will even make it in the reserves.

I've only seen Kleberson play some decent football in one game, and that was against Blackburn at home last season, just after his wife/girlfriend had a baby ( remembering that baby cuddling celebration when he scored ;) ). I don't want to have to wait until his lady has another baby for him to turn in a decent performance again.

Good, we need to sell to buy, we have an ubalanced squad, no overhaul needed, just a slight reshuffle.

Pity things turned out this way...again...

Add fortune to that list as well. Sometimes football isn't like Football Manager, where u just nonchalantly say that we need to sell this and do this or whatever and automatically expect it to work. We should be able to utilize the players we have to full potential.

In my opinion, a Saha/Ruud combo up front bore goals, but both have been on the sick bed way too much this season, that is just plain bad luck. That could happen to any team. We could sell a big name now, buy another one and lose him to injury so you just have to accept that these things will happen.

The true useless players in my opinion are P.Neville, Fortune, Bellion, Miller and Silvestre. Fortune is ok but not world class, sure he does a few backheels here and there but he isn't consistently good. Bellion is just useless, showed bags of promise in his debut here in the US, then just went down the toilet. Miller has just looked out of place and out of sorts, should be in the conference. Silvestre is waaaaaaay too error prone, and shouldn't be trusted with protecting our backline of all places.

I think that given a longer run in the team, Kleberson can do well, he's been f*ckin cursed with injury, and he has been trying to pack on some muscle for the epl. When he does play well he can be pure genius at times. I think if we can line him up next to a Gattuso or Essien, he'll be more free to attack and create.

I'm just interested in who we might go for in the summer, my transfer dealings would be:

Sell
P.Neville
Q.Fortune
Bellion
Silvestre
Miller if possible

Buy

Essien/Gatttuso (or both if possible)
Frey(looks near unbeatable sometimes, Parma are in frail financial health if Im not mistaken)
A winger, it's this dutch guy that played in the friendly vs England, he ran them ragged but I forgot his name, we may be able to get him on the cheap.
A right fullback, I'd take the portugese Miguel(I think that's his name) or someone else good.

We have the dough, the board needs to stop frontin' and put it to better use. I'm also backing a few youngsters like Rossi to get promoted into the first team.

Help?

As you please, it will be arranged first thing in the morning tomorrow ;)

Anyways, we need to sell Bellion, Miller and Kleberson, just to free the squad. Right now we are loaded with talent that doesn't fit and very few that do. We don't even need money for them, just get them off the squad and have their wages be used instead for a new mid. We really need someone to either play amazing defensively or very good in attacking midfield. Money are there to use, the board is just saving for rainy days, which they hope will never come. The money were there for a long time and that statement that sell before buy is just to keep up with the plan in staying at the top as the world's richest franchise. We need to offload just to have more space, lots of competition is not necessarily better and we pay wages to players that will never make it to the top with United, maybe somebody else.

If we really want to, TRULY challange the big boys again, we need 1 more world class centre back, a midfielder of some kind, and to shed alot of dry old skin.
