I agree with most of the article as well. we certainly shouldn't sell John O'Shea though.

Wonder how we'll do in this year's transfer market.
Yes, O'Shea can play in many positions and i think he plays better than Phil.

We have to buy a strong defensive midfielder with good stamina coz Keane is really getting old. Maybe a left-footed winger also. Buying a central defender is good but its not easy for him to play well alongside Rio in a short time. But Silvestre and Brown both dont give me any confidence. Brown himself looks very diffident and when he plays on the right, he cant recieve the easy ball and lets the ball go outside under his foot.
But for me, i dont think we should buy a keeper. We cant guarantee the new keeper is stable and reliable. Maybe playing Howard more often can solve the keeper problem.

Maybe the answer is to send O'Shea out on loan if Newcastle wanted him so bad. He is what, 22? 23? and he could still turn out to be very good for you all, either in defense or midfield. A guy like Phil Neville, though, is much more valuable to you just to keep, rather than sell. I fancy he could only bring in a couple of million pounds, max from a team that wanted him to start. However, he gives max effort out on the pitch, and im sure he keeps Gary on an even keel in the tough times.
As far as the stud defender you all want to put beside rio, maybe you should wait a year and splash out some big bucks for a great buy. That way, cost doesnt limit class. Maybe by that time, someone like Puyol or Lucio will be in your price range, but in the immediate, maybe Distin, Metzelder, Colocinni? I dunno, just random names i guess, but im pretty sure if you can sway the teams, they can all be had reasonably cheap

Apart from all this transfer talk, we need to get or tactics right.
The lads don't look like they are practically prepared on the pitch.

Compared to Mourinho's Chelsea, as much as I hate to say it, each player seems to have a specific job and they execute it well. They are tactically aware, thus, no matter how much rotation they do, they seem to do reasonably well. Pay attention how their forwards alternate places to help the defence once they lose the ball. The forwards tuck into the middle. I'm don't think I'm explaining myself very well, but the idea is it seems like we need to spend more time on the practice pitch.

Our set pieces are doing us any good, our counter attacks are less fluids then they used to be. Carlos, is time for you to work your magic.

Well its not as if Saha wanted to get injured, is it. :(

Give the guy time to rediscover his form instead of blasting him non-stop.

The Red Devil
REDEYE from RedIssue said there would be some positive noises from Coolmore in the Sunday Press, and this is it.

MALCOLM GLAZER'S £800million takeover bid for Manchester United is in tatters.

Major Old Trafford shareholders Cubic Expression are not prepared to sell their stake in the club.

Sunday Mirror Sport understands representatives acting on behalf of Irish racehorse owners John Magnier and JP McManus have told supporters' groups their holding company, Cubic Expression, will reject Glazer's proposal to buy their 28.9 per cent shareholding.

Magnier and McManus, who own the Coolmore stud in Tipperary, believe Glazer has undervalued United by tabling an offer which would have given them £3 per share - even though that would have given the Irish duo a profit in the region of £100m.

They have made it clear they value United's shares at £3.50, meaning the American would need to raise £1billion to complete a takeover. On Friday afternoon United shares were trading at £2.74 on the Stock Exchange.

Glazer, 76, was banking on his latest proposal being accepted - putting him on course to gain control of the club even if United chief executive David Gill and his board were to refuse to recommend his revised bid.

The Coolmore pair have made it clear they will not be prepared to sell at anything less than £3.50 per share - a figure which puts United out of the reach of the Glazer clan.

The Americans saw a first bid rejected by United's directors because it was being financed by too much debt - in the region of £500m. It is understood that their alternative offer will be backed by about £300m of borrowing against future profits.

That is also unlikely to be recommended by the Old Trafford board because it hinges on aggressive marketing practices which would include increasing ticket prices.

Now, unless Glazer can find institutions prepared to help him raise a further £200m to back a bid that would tempt Coolmore into cashing in on their investment, his quest to become the owner of the biggest football club in the world has ended in failure.

Even then, it is unlikely that Coolmore will sell to him after making it clear to fans' pressure groups that they do not want to do business with the American.

Magnier and McManus are desperate to ensure that their investment in United does not impinge on their horseracing interests.

And with the Cheltenham Festival taking place this week, the news that they are to block Glazer could not have emerged at a better time.

Twelve months ago, the Irish duo found themselves at war with Old Trafford supporters after becoming embroiled in a legal battle with Sir Alex Ferguson over ownership rights for the champion racehorse Rock Of Gibraltar.

Militant United fans demonstrated at racecourses around the country and only a plea from Ferguson halted a plan to disrupt Cheltenham. Magnier's home in Cork was also targeted in a graffiti attack.

The Coolmore pair were anxious to avoid any upset at Cheltenham this year - and Sunday Mirror Sport understands militant supporters' groups headed by the Manchester Education Committee were planning some form of protest.

That prompted them to informally contact fans' representatives to give guarantees about their commitment to retain their stake in United.

Last night, Glazer - whose bid is being masterminded by sons Joel and Avi - was coming to terms with the fact that his attempt to buy United has been thwarted.

Joel was scheduled to table a revised offer to the United board on Friday after being given limited access to the Old Trafford accounts last month.

His trip to England was postponed, with sources close to the Florida-based Glazer family claiming that he was still recuperating after an appendix operation three weeks ago.

But we understand the Glazers are now looking at alternatives after already borrowing heavily to fund a number of share purchases that have bought them a 28.8 per cent stake in the club.

Great news if it kills off Glazer for good, stopping that twat from getting the club would be better than winning any trophy.
