Glazer challenged to prove funds

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=312920&cc=5901

Manchester United's plc board of directors have called on potential owner Malcolm Glazer to prove he is serious about a takeover.
The board want the American tycoon to prove he can come up with his reported offer of £3 per share which would value the Old Trafford club at £800million.

The 76-year-old's reported personal wealth falls short of the amount he would need to buy out the club, according to a source quoted in the Manchester Evening News.

The source, said to be close to the situation, told the Evening News: 'Glazer's people were asked for more details on the funding before anything else can progress.'

If Glazer reveals he plans to borrow against future club income in order to fund the deal the board are unlikely to recommend the takeover to shareholders.

Pires: We're brawl over you

By ANDREW DILLON

ROBERT PIRES says Manchester United are scared of Arsenal — less than two weeks before the two clubs clash.

He reckons the Gunners’ rivals are STILL shaken by last November’s infamous Battle of Old Trafford.

Five Arsenal stars were hammered by the FA for their brawling. The list of shame included former Highbury hero Martin Keown, for goading Ruud van Nistelrooy — but winger Pires thinks it was a price worth paying.

The Arsenal ace said: “The scenes at the end of that match were controversial and earned some of our players suspensions and fines.

“But we established a psychological stranglehold over United that day. You could say the sanctions we endured after that game were almost worth it.”

Pires’ amazing boast in his autobiography Footballeur, published on October 28, could trigger a backlash from United stars — as the two teams are set to meet again at Old Trafford in 12 days’ time.

Arsenal went on to take the Premiership title from United last season and Red Devils boss Alex Ferguson is still quietly seething over the flashpoint.

He was later censured by football chiefs for claiming Arsenal had ‘done a deal’ with the FA over the punishments — with Lauren, Keown, Patrick Vieira and Ray Parlour suspended for nine games between them.

Should the league leaders hold off the challenge of Aston Villa on Saturday, Arsenal will go to Old Trafford on October 24 looking to make it 50 Premiership games without defeat.

Pires, 31, added: “That’s nice. The English fans dream of seeing us going to Old Trafford to seek a 50th unbeaten game, against United.

“But what interests us is to be champions once again.”

haha, the Gooner twats are at it again.

I hope the motherfuckers get mauled 6-0.:rockman:
