Pique signs new Man United deal

Manchester United have confirmed Spanish defender Gerard Pique has signed a new contract to keep him at Old Trafford until June 2009.
The 18-year-old initially signed as a trainee last summer, much to the annoyance of former club Barcelona, but has already confirmed some of the potential that persuaded Sir Alex Ferguson to push through the deal.

Pique, has made three first team appearances already this term, including a first senior start in the FA Cup draw with Exeter, and
Ferguson sees him as an eventual successor to record signing Rio Ferdinand.

Mourinho is an absolute cunt. The fact that he refused to shake hands with Chelsea's former player shows how arrogant and disrespectful he is.
Mourinho is a pure hyprocrite. I still remember last season when Porto won the CL final and everybody on the team was going nuts jumping and hugging and crying with happiness, only Mourinho was having the same gay, serious expression he always has. He just walked around the pitch with that expression, not a single smile during the whole celebration.

I can understand that he tries to act cool and classy like a gentleman but he's goin over the limit at times. Wanker indeed but a good manager still.

Yea, he did that because he just had received a death threat before the game, and then wanted to be with his family.

Oh but you must not value your mortality like Mourinho and think you are invincible.

Still if I were him, I'd celebrate like a madman. A CL is really a phenomenal achievement, and should be celebrated. Even if he was gonna be killed by a madman in the stadium, which situation is better? Dying a sulking brat? Or dying a happy man?

Chelsea's strength is in their ability to buy........now there is no transfer window and once they start the champions league matches and the fixtures pile up on them...they'll eventually have injuries and suspensions and will have to manage playing without robben and duff......so their only threat will be an unhappy joe cole who will take them nowhere.......

their good defence is the key to win something just as they did at the beginning of the season....they'll look for 1-0 wins while Man Utd will have Ruud back and with all the confidence i see chelsea falling at the last hurdle.... you can win with kids but you can't buy the title

cheers

Opta reckon Wayne Bridge is the underrated key to Chelseas defensive record, despite the focus on Cech. If that really is the case, then why would Mourinho be after Ashley Cole, who is known more for his attacking abilities than his defensive capabilities. Seems an odd speculation to me if Opta have got it right. It would be mighty competitive for the LB slot.

Corinthians consider Kleberson

Corinthians have refused to rule out a move for Manchester United midfielder Kleberson.

The club's director of football Paulo Angioni believes the unsettled Red Devil could be a great option for his side after seeing a move to Benfica fail to materialise during the transfer window.

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted recently that he would listen to offers for both Kleberson and Eric Djemba-Djemba, who joined Aston Villa on deadline day.

Kleberson had to return to Brazil for an operation on his ankle injury and that scuppered a move within Europe last month.

The World Cup winner's name was mentioned in connection with Corinthians on Brazilian television by a well-respected reporter this week.

"The reporter who gave that information knows Corinthians very well," admitted Angioni to GE.net. "If he said that it is because he knows about something.

"I do not discard Kleberson. He is a good name and pleases everybody.

"I cannot say myself, though, if contact has been made with him on the part of Corinthians.

"Transfers of that importance take a certain time and I do not want to stipulate how long [it could take]."

Meanwhile, Djemba-Djemba has confirmed a number of clubs tried to sign him before he opted for Villa.

"Portsmouth, Benfica, Birmingham and Paris Saint Germain were all interested," he revealed. "It was not an easy decision to make."

The Red Devil
OT Planning Permission Granted

Manchester United have been granted planning permission to complete their rebuilding of Old Trafford.

The Premiership giants want to increase their capacity further to around 76,000, with the work to be completed in time for the start of the 2006/07 season.

The plans will see Old Trafford become the second biggest football stadium in the country behind the new Wembley creation.

Work on the extra 7,900 seats is due to start before the end of the current season, and the increased numbers should earn the Red Devils an extra £5 million every season.

Trafford Borough Council have agreed to the proposals for the north west and north east corners of the ground.

United director of communications Phil Townsend said that the club were delighted with the news.

"This is great news," said Townsend.

"We believe this will be of huge benefit to the club, the fans and the Trafford Borough Council."

Thats an extra £5m income every season, I doubt the decline in TV money will have any effect on Manchester United now.

When TV money starts going down, we shouldn't be too effected by it, if at all.
Pimp, just pimp.:D My favorite stadium is about to get better.

Yeah, i just hope that it won't be turned into a standard british style stadium, like Millenium stadium. I love those nice corners they have.

It's different. A joke on ur shirt is probably really lame but winning the CL is something else.
