No we should be going after a midfielder, thats our main priority. When will Fergie know that Scholes and Keane need replacing. :brow:

I dunno, maybe when their legs drop off. Ferguson reminds me so much of a cheapskate old guy. They drive around their old ass buicks determined to run it into the ground if they have to, and refuse to buy a new car.

Nice to see Park do well on his debut, too bad he missed that volley completely. His skill and agility is obvious, but his first touches were a bit crappy and he was getting out-muscled. But I think he'll surely get better as he becomes more adapted to the EPL.

van der Sar is god. We finally have my favourite keeper. Saved our ass from that beast Tim Cahill.

We seriously need to improve our defending tho... especially aerial. Everton is a physical team and it showed, they were getting every single header and they always made something happen off their setpieces while we wasted all of our corners. I didn't see Ferdinand head the ball even once, and his marking was sh1t. Silvest was better defensively IMO, braver and more aggressive.

Park has impressed, the Scallies can't touch him at times because he's too fast and can easily win freekicks, our midfield has been crap but Park has been a shining light, fast on the turn, showed that he can beat more than one player at once and get in a decent cross (Ruud might've had a penalty).
:boyaka: (H) :jap:

Ben, I'd contradict you with the bash you gave to Park a month ago, but I'm sure watching the games will do enough. :ewan:

Although I'm not a EPL guy, I hope Park does well. And I also hope SAF will let him play for the NT without jewing him out of his patriotism. :(

It's shocking actually the way we defend sometimes. We hardly disposses the oppositon without ganging up on them, we dont win aerial challenges, we look like conceding everytime a damn long ball punt/corner is delivered into the area...it's silly. Isn't this supposed to be the new improved defensive United? You're 'avin a laugh. I tell you, we might as well switch back to the 4-4-2, at least then we'll whup teams' asses with our attack, even if we do concede some.

Even I, a fan in the distance, can see our problem. It's obvious that our attackers go waaaay to far ahead of the play. Most of the time they just go up to the opposite end of the field waiting for the ball, and this encourages these stinkin' long balls that just give the ball to the opposition. Example:

----------OUR ATTACK-----------

<<<<OPPOSITION PLAYERS>>>>>

---------OUR DEFENSE

It's obvious that our defenders get closed down and then they make these panicky clearances. Yet everytime they kept the ball on the ground against Everton, it almost always ended up with a shot on target. Are we the only bloody people that notice these things? I swear the coaching team wouldn't see this if it came and farted in their faces... This would've been a dream formation for me

--------------------VDS------

----------------Rio--------Lucio------------

--Cicinho---------------------------Heinze

--C.Ron------Fletcher-----Mikel----------Park

--------------Ruud/Rossi---Rooney

This would be like the most swashbuckling team in the prem, forget Arsenal. And yeah that's right, I picked Mikel. I dont care if he or his agent are arseholes, the kid's amazing. He'll bring physical presence, as well as an uncanny passing ability, as well as some And1 dribbling in the CENTER of midfield. We'll never see another long ball again with these players, but alas it wont happen.

it would have been better if rossi would have got a ten minute run in at the end.
we played a good game.
but such play would be no use against the likes of chelsea and arsenal and to some extent pool.

i dont know why we never deal with aerial challenges.we have giants in rio,o'shea then why do we lose the aerial challeneges inside the box.
it seems that our dfeenders sit back to allow fk's and throwins come inside the box so that the opposition can pounce on to score.if it was not for vds, cahill would have easil;y scored and then the game could go either way.

one thing that surprised me was ruud.his first touch was the free kick which he took in an awesome fashin.he even hit 2 thumping shots from outside the box.
no doubt, but ruud shows signs of being able to continuously score again.

park was excellent.should have scored.
the major concern was fletcher.he never looked like supporting keane.the same for scholes.his tackles are awefull.when a dumba** player like toure can improve, why can' t scholes' tackles?

and by the way, what was ronaldo's problem?is he injured for too long?

Heard that Ronaldo got a knock on his ankle in the Debrecen game - don't think it's too serious. Rooney also got a knock in the Everton game, might rule him out of the England friendly match on Wednesday (shame).

Also according to the Sunday Express, Ronaldo is expected to sign his new contract this week - and also this week United are going to bid £10M for Michael .......... Ballack! Apparently contract renewal negotiations are not going all that well with Bayern.

No more news on Cicinho, last I heard the deal hinged on him getting an EU passport - Sao Paulo don't think he'll get it in time but if United match the buyout and the documents arrive, then he can go.

I was pretty sure Everton were going to be 1-0 by half-time, our midfield was non-existent and Cahill was free at the far post and probably would've scored had it been Howard instead of van der Sar in goal, then Bent hit the crossbar. Park has impressed, the Scallies can't touch him at times because he's too fast and can easily win freekicks, our midfield has been crap but Park has been a shining light, fast on the turn, showed that he can beat more than one player at once and get in a decent cross (Ruud might've had a penalty). Ruud looks hungry and sharp, defo looks like the player of 2001-2004.

I'm watching on ESPN Live (CoolStreaming) so I won't have highlights.

Loving Wayne's celebration, right infront of the Scallies.
Coolstreaming is SO popular here in Hong Kong... cos many people dont have cable TV at home and they have to use this to watch the matches live on the net.
[shh]but its something illegal right?[/shh] :p

For the game, we played quite well when we get the possession. But when Everton got the ball and kept throwing long balls into our box, our defence was a bit too deep. We couldnt clear the ball and we should work harder on our long ball defence.

Our attack did look more fluent and effective. With Park running all over the pitch, we can create more space and thus we can set up goals. Great play by Park. :D

and also Ruud took the free kick like he did once at the beginning of last season...he almost scored it this time. Ruud often comes back to the midfield in this game. Our new 4-3-3 formation looks good and entertaining. :rockman:

Sad to admit that...but yea... I prefer Brown or Heinze to play alongside Rio.
Fergie has put Richardson and Rossi on the bench...would he also try Pique?

Cahill was an aerial threat and played quite well - drew a world class save from Edwin in the first half. Faded in the second though. Everton didn't play that badly - United once they got going were just too strong. On another day it might have gone against us.
