Yeah, if thats the kit, and I am still skeptical, its a pretty intrestring/retro design that could come off real nice. A big AIG in the middle, especially with that box might ruin it, though

The reason I am still skeptical is the dude who posted it is acting so indignant ("FFS THIS IS THE NEW KIT :nape: " type stuff) that he has an advanced version of it, and yet doesnt provide any more photos of it.

I have to tell you though that I grew quite fond of your last strip since it came out two years ago. Hard to believe its been that long, as I was in Arnott's in Dublin with my cousin the day of release because he wanted it bad, but back then I thought it was ugly. Now, it seems like one of the best in England

AlienSeafood and Garlei,
the 2-day-package costs HK$200 (about 15 pounds), and it's free of charge to go on Friday night(the 1st day).

I still dont know when and where will the tickets be sold.

Do you know who will United bring here this year? I really want to see Pique, Rossi and Neumayr, but I think it's unlikely to see them...

And also, Inter was said to come to Hong Kong in late May, but still havent heard of any promotion and news about the tickets.

tnx for the info...gonna wait 4 further details to make sure...
and about the new kit...if thats the new home one...hope i can get a sponsorless version of it... (C)

Quality article by United Rant:

Club v Country Round: XXX

As the Wayne Rooney injury saga rumbles on into its fifth day it threatens to develop into yet another ugly club versus country row. Round One: Sven scores a low blow by stating that he'll take Rooney to the World Cup whether he is fit or not. Round Two: Fergie counter-punches by stating that it'll be United, not England, that decides if Rooney will go to Germany or not. Round Three: England request information from FIFA about replacing players past the May 15th squad naming deadline day, clearly implying they'll take Rooney and replace him if necessary. Round Four: the Scot savages Sven, declaring Rooney's participation in the event to be a wild "dream".

Today we hear that the youngster's foot is broken in multiple places, complicating the recovery. Indeed, M.E.N reports that Rooney could be out for up to three months - meaning that the youngster will miss the World Cup and United's pre-season tour to South Africa (which he was never going to go on, anyway). A nice place by United's PR machine! But wait, England counter with Oliver Holt, Soho Square's favoured Fergie-basher, claiming that it was the United manager's fault because he had failed to control his player (the causal link was so badly articulated by the cerebrally challenged Mirror journalist that RANT won't insult our readers by repeating it).

FIFA's rules on the matter are heavily weighted in favour of national associations as expected considering that is who makes up the membership of world football's governing body! The most important articles of FIFA's constitution state that clubs must release players for FIFA ratified matches or events - during the specified dates - on pane of deducted points for the club if they don't comply. Moreover, FIFA's rules also dictate that national association doctors must have the final say on whether a player is fit to take part in a match or not. In this case the law is very much on the FA's side, if it turns nasty. The law in this case is, as they say, an ass.

There are more dimensions to the debate though. While FIFA's constitution has been strengthened in favour of the international game with each club v country conflict, the big clubs are fighting back. Currently going through the European Courts is a case brought by Belgian club Charleroi but backed by the powerful G14 group, of which United is a leading member. Should Charleroi win the case the implications are huge for the international game. Charleroi is claiming compensation for the loss to injury of their player Abdelmajid Oulmers while away with Morocco on international duty. Should they win their claim Charleroi could in theory be entitled to compensation equal to the player's wages while he was unavailable, the relevant proportion of his transfer fee, and loss of earnings by the club as a result of the player's absence.

Why is this relevant to the Rooney debate? Because should Charleroi and the G14 win, then United will be in a much more powerful position.

Consider this hypothetical scenario: England enforce FIFA's rules and take a semi-fit Rooney to the World Cup. He plays (or trains) with England but suffers a relapse or potentially another break on a bone that is not fully recovered. This could mean that United start the season without Rooney, possibly failing to qualify for the Champions League (should they need to) in his absence. The FA could, in theory, be liable to United for millions of pounds in compensation. It might make the old farts think twice about laying down the law to clubs in future.

Moreover, it's not a debate that will go away anytime soon. FIFA will make hundreds of millions of pounds from the World Cup. United and the other clubs who are supplying players will not make a penny, despite paying players wages throughout the tournament.

Rooney meanwhile lies in his oxygen tent with a protective cast, air bubble cushion and magnetic healing gadget all attached to the toe. The boy is of course devastated at not making the World Cup and will probably declare himself fit whether he is or not. But there is a danger of Sven, England and the FA missing the bigger picture if they do take him. And if they do, expect an angry, potentially litigious response from United should Rooney break down again. Let's hope it does not come to that because United and the G14 are threatening to deliver a knockout blow to the powerbase FIFA has built up. Kaboom!

Are we really getting Carrick? I think he is similar to Fletch. I still remember his dribbling against Arsenal.

That "new kit" looks really classical. The club logo is old, right?

why england so desperate to include rooney in the squad even he was injured just because they can't win world cup without rooney? this is a hillarious reason for a TEAM. yes i mean a team, a country with one of the most popular league in the world and ton of world class and potential players can't survive in world cup without a boy?

give rooney a break, he was injured. he needs time to recover. won't you FA want to end his career by included and perhaps start an injured player during wc?

I'm English, and proud to be so - but I don't care too much about the National team (seeing as most of the time United players get abuse from "England fans" ). All that matters to me is that Wayne is fit and raring to go for next season. The decision should be Man Utd's afterall we pay his wages! (I.e United do, and therefore so do we the fans)

I would much rather England flopped in the World Cup if it would mean more glory for United next season.

On the subject of the kit, Nike have confirmed that the design for the red strip will change and a new white kit will be introduced alongside (primary away). The design of the blue shirt will be retained, but obviously Vodafone will be replaced by AIG. Of all the rumoured designs floating around, this is my favourite:

As I said before, I hope the white away follows the template of the USA home shirt (except with black replacing the navy) It reminds me of one of our old away kits in the 1980's.

And finally I hope we get Michael Carrick, he's far superior to Darren Fletcher and of much more use to the team. The latest rumoured targets are Riquelme, Aldo Duscher, Nigel Reo-Coker and Aaron Lennon. Of these, I'd like to see Riquelme and Reo-Coker come in. On departures it's rumoured that Everton want Tim Howard either as a loan deal or permanent.

the square around the AIG makes it look better. I like it (Y), even though it's only an idea.

I'd personally take a half fit Rooney to the world cup, even with the likes of Lampard, Gerrard etc. in the team, Rooney really does give something extra. Everyone says "England rely on Rooney" bla bla, but if he wasn't such a key role in the England setup, who would be the first to complain with "it's terrible that he's not key to England, what a waste of talent" bla bla.

Plus the fact that Rooney himself WANTS to go to the World Cup. Wait 4 years for another chance to show the world his talent... or having the chance to show the world his talent (even if only half-fit) and possibly have another few weeks off before starting for United... tough choice.

Help?

You guys are all thinking about how Rooney should stay to benefit United and how they should decide it. Even though i would rather have Rooney not risking further injury, imo it should be his and only his own decision, whether to go or not. If doctors say that he can play, then he should decide. World Cup is not just some tournament, players dream of winning it. It's the most prestige trophy you can get and can happen like a max of 4 times in a career. I am pretty sure that winning the World Cup would top winning 5 CL/EPL doubles in a row for Rooney.

carrick is a proven talent in EPL... we wouldnt know if gattuso would fit the EPL. Carrick with his crossing abilities can bring something extra but i dun think spurs will let him go.

Gattuso has played for the Rangers in the past you know, and the tempo in the SPL isn't any different to the EPL, so he wouldn't have any problem settling in, I thought his wife was English or something....

D'alessandro could be an option for us, he is still young an with SAF's guidance he can become one of the best playmakers. If there was any possibility of getting Becks back then I wouldn't mind seeing him back in our shirt

Where would you play him then?

Anyways.. he's one of my favourite players. Would be nice if he came back :) but this looks unlikely :(

I would give him a CM/DM role, he has the ability to be a playmaker, and his pin point passing would be a great addition, from the moment he left we sort of lost our style of play a little, with him we could have been more dangerous upfront, he has got the experience on the big stage and he is a hard worker

I've recently read an article in a footiemag by Platini or Cruyff (don't remember which one sorry) where it was statted among other things that Becks could play a fantastic CM/AM, aslong somebody protects the defense and he is given the "freedom" to create.

I remember well when Becks was a youngester he didn't always play RM, but C/AM sometimes. He scored some cracking long range goals then or simply put in an pass to a striker or the winger.

But anyway it will never happen aslong as Fergie remains there and it would be a short term solution anyway (he's 31 now)

On another note

Do you think it could be Ruud's final appereance for Utd this weekend ?
