Well at least Marseille stated that Man Utd conducted their enquiries more sensitively than other clubs - bodes well for possible negotiations down the line.

According to the Daily Mail today, Man Utd are hoping to get £20M for Ruud van Nistelrooy, but have not shut the door on a reconcilliation. Interestingly enough, Cristiano Ronaldo has been quoted as saying the "incident" with Ruud has been blown into "a storm in a teacup" and that he gets on well with Ruud in general. Hopefully common sense will prevail and our no 10 will still be with us in August. Although £20M for a player nudging 30 years old could be seen as a good deal money wise.
The problem however is to find a goalscorer as prolific. I'd love to see United bid for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, if Juve do get hammered by the Italian FA (Which is about as likely as Arsenal or Chelsea being hammered by ours  )

Here's a link about Ruud and Ronny: http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=391813&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=&title=Ronaldo+dismisses+Ruud+spat

Another day closer to the world cup and no additions. Frank Stapleton said on MUTV yesterday that he thinks the deals will be done early next week :) - or will be left until after the world cup. :nape:

dont dare lump us in with them. They get away with anything they want, and weve paid a kings ransom in fines, sometimes for virtually nothing

Arsenal have their Vice Chairman as the vice chairman of the FA so they can pretty much get away with anything. As for Chelsea I expect the "Real Madrid" syndrome will kick in with the FA being too scared to do anything. Also what do fines mean to Chelsea now? are they a effective punishment to a club with vast amounts of money?

Please don't think that I was for a minute suggesting Chelsea are backhanding the FA as Juve have been accused of. Just that the FA are gutless to act tough when teams have money/power.

Incidentally Manchester United supremo David Gill has just been voted onto the representative board of the Premierleague at the FA. He replaces FA Vice Chairman (and Arsenal Chairman) David Dein. So maybe the FA are looking to reduce Arsenal's presence at last. (I'd be happy if anyone replaced Dein, but It's nice United will have a voice higher up)

16 mln pounds for Mikel is a very good deal for a player whom has never touched a ball for us, big talent, but I prefer players whom have the heart to play for us then for any money reasons. Come on SAF come with a new signing, don't matter who it is, but he must be very good though

Help?

As much as i would like the same thing, unfortunately those kind of world class players that have the heart to play are a big rarity. Either that or they are not good enough for our standards.

Sheva, Obi, Kalou, Ballack have all boarded the roman express.
any team in the epl with those 4 players and 7 other below avergae players like bramble are capable of finishing in the top half of the epl.
when chelsea have another 15 more world class bunch of guys, it's a premature end to title hopes for all other teams.
people may talk about either of these not fitting into the system and being a flop. these are expereinced pros and can fit in with ease only to make chelsea more DEADLY.

and what's fergie doing till that moment? NOTHING. just going to scout f*ckin players himself. all he thinks abgout now is FUTURE GREATS. what does he want to do?build a team that will shine when his son gets as old as him. make us fans wait for another 10 years to see united pip the title?

years ago it was a snap of the finger for united to see a player head to OT. now it's the opposite way and chelsea are calling the numbers.

on top of that fergie thinks to hint of offloading one of the most prolific goalscorers in united's history? our number 10 van nistelrooy?
bollocks.

the old man has lost it or the board has . we tend to always OVERPAY on players and get below par rates for the ones we sell.

i'll be surprised if we sign an established player who is trully WORLD CLASS before net season.

Yawn. Please, do us all a favour and shut the f*ck up. You can complain about chelsea signing players as much as you want, but its not going to stop them.

And how do you know what Ferguson is doing? Many teams are reluctant to sell players before a world cup due the obvious effect on a players price tag. Lets just wait till the end of August before judging the players he's signed.

Well said, it is true that Chelsea got World class players, but if SAF signs the right players we need, we can still make a huge impact, we don't need 11 great players to have a strong team, we already have a strong team, but we need a few elements to make it almost perfect and consistent

I'm not to worried about chelsea's signings .I think it will be hard for Chelsea to get their new players to gel.We were still competitve last year for a side with some clear weaknesses. We just need a few more signings and we ought to have a good chance of winning the premiership , if not next season the season after.

it seems like everyone forget we won 2nd spot and league cup winner without a defensive midfielder. heinze, scholes are out most of the season. smith out as well in the 2nd half of the season. you have to give some credits to the team and manager for this achievement.

what we need is a proper signing. add 1 or 2 suitable player and we are good. we don't have the budget like chelsea do, but football is all about team. i believe if we play like last season with improvement in midfield and finishing. we are able to challenge every one.
