we've a choice to make. We either keep him play him and work on his head throughout the season to keep him ticking over or we call their bluff - put a price on his head and say this is what we will sell ronaldo for. Nothing less na dif Madrid don't offer the price we want, they can f*ck off.

Because that way we retain power, we're putting the ball in madrids court and if you make it non negotiable then your putting pressure on madrid and also your not burning bridges.

I think little by little, Ronaldo is showing that he is at least, in the very least, as big as the club, if not bigger. Utd. are really on their knees, close to giving him a BJ to stay. Really, he's under contract and he's creating this circus. If he weren't as big as the club, he would have gotten the boot. Sorry, but seems as if Fergie and Co. aren't equally stern with all players.

This is the end of Cristiano Ronaldo as far as I'm concerned. Having actually seen him on TV (through an interpreter) stating he agrees with Septic and United are treating him like a slave then I just want him gone as soon as possible. Let's hawk him off to the highest bidder, be that Madrid, Barcelona or Real Nintendo!

These footballers have no concept of the real world - they want to try making £5 an hour breaking their backs in a warehouse for 40 hours a week, or being stuck in an office, or doing the jobs that we - the loyal fans do to earn our money which we then pay to watch these overpriced idols. The ordinary people in England are struggling to put petrol in their cars' tanks and Ronaldo says he's a slave? On £120K a week?

Did United hold a gun to his head to make him sign that lucrative five year deal last summer?

I'll tell you what the real world is like - it's driving a car with damage that you can't afford to fix - think about that when you're driving your bloody Bentley you two faced tw@

On August the second, Myself and 70,000 plus Manchester United fans will gather to pay tribute to a great man who is the very opposite of Cristiano Ronaldo. A man who knew how privileged he was to do a sport he loved and be well compensated, a man who truly bleeds red and white, who could have gone to any club he wanted because he was predominantly a sub and a man who is giving back to the club which did so much for him .... Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

I strongly suspect should Ronaldo ever show up at Old Trafford again, he will not be hailed by the Stretford End.

Okay so Real Madrid are the winners in this situation - but if we hold on to Ronaldo then clearly it's the Manchester United faithful who are the losers. I would rather have players in those red shirts who at least had a bit of loyalty to the fans who pay their vast wages. Maybe another player like Giggsy, Scholesy or Neville and Ole is asking too much - I don't think many players will stay at a club long enough to get a testimonial now, but at least honour their agreements.

If I was a Real Madrid fan and saw Ronaldo's comments - I don't think I'd be exactly ecstatic with the type of character that's coming to my club - maybe he'll give them the shaft when he can get more money elsewhere.

Figo left Barca for money, Ronaldo would make LESS in Madrid, he is leaving for legacy...or at least as he sees it. I have said it time and time again, we dont need him and I dont really want him...however if Robihno indeed leaves then its kind of like WE HAVE to get someone to play the wing be it Ronaldo, Quaresma or whomever...i still find Ronaldo pretentious, arrogant and flat out consumed by his stardom...while he has been spending the past few weeks from luxury to luxury, disrespecting the fans of a great club in Man U and even us Madridistas, by failing to put an end to the speculation, a truly great player like Iker Casillas, cancelled his vacations to go help poor kids in the mountains of Peru and campaign against world poverty. You want class look no further than Iker Casillas, a man who never ever takes a pinch of praise and always deflects it to his teamates, a man who bleeds white and puts it all in the line for the shirt every game, a man only comparable to Raul in our recent Real Madrid history as far as royalty; and a man who might become only the second goalkeeper to win the golden ball....and yet so humble.....take that C. Ronaldo!

Carlos Queiroz is officialy Portugal coach, the website of the Football Portuguese Federation confirmed.

Yes, Queirorz is the new Portuguese selection coach, so im thinking what´s gonna happen with MAN U next season without Queiroz ( For me the real MAN U Coach, because Ferguson can´t even kick a ball, he is too old and needs to retire), and probably without C.Ronaldo and Patrice Evra.
And i almost forgot, MAN U is gonna play the Wolrd Club Cup in Japan, a useless tournament because it only tires the players, so i think this is gonna be a bad season for UNITED.

you're retarded. What does kicking a ball have to do with being a manager? How old was Aragones when Spain won the Euro? 69? Do you think he can kick a ball? ******* retard.

First, Spell Check. Learn how to use it.
Second, Evra has signed a long term contract with United.
Third, Go get a perm.

I think that Manchester will suffer more with the transference of Queiroz than with the possible transference of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was capable of that brilliant season because of the team, the team played for him, the team supported him, without that 10 players, Ronaldo in Manchester wouldn't be the Ronaldo we know in my opinion. So Ronaldo isn't Manchester, Ronaldo was a product of a big team effort, and without him, the structure of the champion team will remain the same, with this im not saying that Ronaldo is nothing, of course that he is a wonderful player (Technically and physically), but Manchester has options, like Nani who made a plenty of great games. Ronaldo dishonored the club who made him as a player, so if he stays the fans will certainly be very disappointed about his attitude.

you said what i said, but better. on the loyalty subject, somehow i feel like rooney has become as thoroughly red as his elder counterparts were at the same stage in their careers. i mean, i think he still loves everton, but the way he runs himself stupid for the team just makes me feel like he's out there for more than the fame and the money. i, for one, look forward to a veteran 34 year old rooney showing our latest young guns how to play the united way (whilst wearing the captain's band) in ten years time.

Oh c'mon man, if Ronaldo goes to Madrid no way is he getting a paycut. With his publicity rights or some other way (i.e.: his taxes being totally supported by Real Madrid) he will at the very least be earning the same amount he already does, though I'm willing to bet he'll earn more.

That's marca talk, don't believe 'em. That's what they'd like madridistas to think. But no, he's proven he's just a scumbag in everything other than playing football.

In his defence Ronaldo's agent has great interest in seeing him in Real Madrid but that doesn't justify the whole thing. I too have had enough with that guy, he's clearly a good player but I can't stand some of his antics.

Of course, many people here in Portugal take Ronaldo's side, and that is becoming really annoying, f*cking ignorants.

I'll always be a fan

Carlos Queiroz issued this statement after United agreed in principle to release him from his contract:

"It is with a very heavy heart that today I leave the greatest football club in the world after five fantastic years. This has been a special period in my life both personally and professionally. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to work in first class facilities with a staff team who are at the top of their profession.

"Our players on and off the pitch make the difference and to them also I owe a great deal of gratitude for their hard work, professionalism and most of all their performances. I feel we have in place the basis for the next generation to follow in the tradition of such world class players as Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best.

"Of course our success as a family is based on strong leadership and in The Glazer Family, The Board, David Gill and not least of all Sir Alex Ferguson we have the support and skills to stay at the top. To Sir Alex, I thank him for his faith in me and his knowledge, spirit and desire from which I will take strength and have confidence in my new role.

"I will forever be a fan and admirer of the club and also thankful that I had the opportunity to be part of such a great institution, a vast organisation but with a unique feeling of family and community. This leads me finally to our fans - local, national and international. I thank them for their fantastic support and encouragement in my time at the club, always there when we need them to support us both home and away in huge numbers.

"In conclusion I wish everyone at our club, continued success in the years to come and to continue to enjoy a brand of exciting, attractive and winning football, admired and respected the world over."

classy guy, im thrilled with our selection to get him.

Another excellent post! I do not like Ronaldo. I want more Casillas' Guti's and Raul's, Hierro's and the immortal Juanito (whose chant Juanito Maravilla can be heard at every home game in the 7th minute). That guy was class
