According to the media, Jaap Stam is back with United as a scout. Nice if it's true, the way he left United was a big dissapointment - Fergie has said he regrets it.

Also the media were trying to claim Berbatov wants to play for AC Milan - even trying to make quotes up! Mind you there's no club football for two weeks is there?

Funny how these "quotes" appear when the players are away from the club isn't it?

papers are so desperate to sell these days....they can make up any headline(and make it look as convincing as possible) on the front page, but when u read the actual article inside there isn't any factual evidence supporting that particular headline.

Both Ferdinand and Rooney scored for england.. and Brown with an assist for Rooney's second. Just watched the highlights from footytube.

Can this guy just shut the **** for a year? Or at least till the end of the season? Do we have to endure this every month until he signs for Real?

Here is some more from that interview:

------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is hopeful that Cristiano Ronaldo will be wearing the Spanish giants' colours this time next year.

Madrid's pursuit of Ronaldo this summer was one of the most protracted and high-profile transfer sagas of recent years, but it ultimately ended in disappointment for the Primera Liga champions with the Portugal winger opting to remain at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Madrid though, and Schuster believes a deal could be struck in 2009 for a player he feels should win the Ballon d'Or this year.

"I think that next year it is going to be a little more complicated for his club to retain him. There is hope that next year he could be with us," said Schuster.

"You need to do everything possible (to sign Ronaldo) because this player is worth it," added the German, who felt Madrid had a decent chance of landing Ronaldo this summer.

"Since the start I thought it was possible although difficult. Possible because the player really showed an interest," he said.

"His class, his position on the right wing and in other areas of the pitch, his work in attack..he would have been an important signing. He didn't come, but this is the team we have here now and we need to have complete faith in them."

Madrid's summer pursuit of Ronaldo came following a remarkable year of success for the Portuguese ace, who in helping United claim a Premier League and Champions League double struck a remarkable 42 goals.

For Schuster that should result in Ronaldo being rewarded with the Ballon d'Or - the award given to Europe's top footballer of the year - even though his own goalkeeper at Madrid Iker Casillas is also in the running to win the title.

"I think that this year Cristiano Ronaldo deserves it. He was the leading scorer in Europe with 42 goals, has won the league and Champions League...that should be sufficient," Schuster said in Marca.

"He didn't do so well with the national team (at Euro 2008), but this was due to Spain and Germany.

"It's easy to say that Spaniards Iker and Xavi (should win it), but if you take into account the overall season you see that Cristiano is the one."

What's with the Ronaldo obsession? Its better just to ignore all the Ronaldo saga thing and just wait and see what happens next. He leaves or stays who cares anyways. That's getting stupid.

I wouldn't have called it a Ronaldo obsession, although the media are obviously obsessed with him. It's more being fed up with hearing this story over and over again.

the story came straight from Real and Schuster mouth, look who is the real culprit trying to stir trouble up. They don't ever stop do they? its a never-ending one.

I meant Real's obsession for Ronaldo

I really wish FIFA would show some teeth and put a stop to this. This is the most public tapping up of a player ever - Real have a reputation for doing this and yet FIFA do nothing.

To be honest I still have a suspicion that Ronaldo's not 100% committed, his recent displays have smacked of someone just going through the motions - I know he's coming off an injury, but to me the desire just doesn't seem to be there anymore. Given the recent displays by Rooney and Tevez it stands out even more.

Impressed by rooneys recent performance. We should expect lots of goals this season. The only fear is when he's in this form he tends to get injured due to over commitment.

ok that makes more sense (Y)

Anyway i don't see why he wants to play under Schuster when he's already playing under the greatest manager there is. Also with his desire possibly being gone, i think considering he was injured not so long ago he should be judged on that a little later once he's had chance to gain some momentum.

i completely disagree. His recent performances have been that of a player who wants to redeem himself. IF you watched the aalborg and blackburn games, you wld know what i m talkin about. Hes lacking match fitness and has not been that effective. But that doesnt mean he is lacking desire. Lets give him a few more games before we start judging.

True, but Rooney makes more than he scores - I see what Capello meant when he said Wazza should be more "selfish" sometimes.

As for Ronny that's a fair point - but I do have a feeling about his commitment, only fair after he spent the summer batting his eyes at Real Madrid.
