It is curious that the youth production has fallen so much. Even Rossi and Pique were imports. I don't mean this in a disparaging way to United specifically, I just wonder what would cause that to happen in a club. Less investing in scouting across England or youth coaches? Would they really cut back on such a small expense?

I believe there is a rule put in place about 10 years ago or so, where clubs can only sign domestic youth players that live within a certain radius of the club. So english teams started resorting more towards importing youth.

Also there is more pressure to perform at a younger age these days. Both clubs want their players to match the high level of football being played and players are more restless wanting more first team experience at a younger age.

Well said, I guess his style was not fit for physical EPL and tough marking (he showed same results in Serie A, although he wasn't fit as well). It worked very well in La Liga.

United's current squad:

Keeper:
1- de Gea
34- Lindegaard
40- Amos
We should be ok with them, I hope to see less mistakes from de Gea, he played with confidence at the end
a

Amos is off to Hull on loan. This leaves us with just 2 GKs. I wonder if Ferguson will promote another youth keeper. We don't have O'Shea anymore.

Toni Kroos, Holger Badstuber, Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels, David Alaba.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Owen Hargreaves, Piotr Trochowski

Emre Can looks set to be something too.

Impressive, that's 5 German starting XI at the moment.
I guess selling Hummols was the most stupid mistake of century by Bayern :).

United didn't do that bad either, also we normally buy players when they are very young, Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Anderson, Nani and Chicharito arrived here when they were so young.

SAF mentioned this recently, like Help? mentioned there was a rule brought in where you could only get local talent. Back in the day Utd used to scout there youngsters nation wide. Look at that golden generation.

SAF said the rule is about to revert to how it used to be.

Just like what Walcott was.

Let me just say that others here including United fans would disagree with this unless they are dishonest. He is very raw yet but his talent, footballing brain and mentality is not in doubt.

He was turning 33 and Kagawa looks likely to be used as Park was a few seasons back. Nothing to do with Korea/Japan

Lucas? That's an interesting ass transfer for you guys.

If I didn't know any better I'd say a club might be sniffing around Nani.

Lucas Moura is one of those players I really want to go to Spain or Italy. I dont particularly want Chelsea to take the risk of signing up, but I dont want United or City to get him and turn him into the next Ronaldo either....

Ideally he would just to Barcelona and rotate with all the other players exactly like him.

I hardly know anything about this guy except that he was too expensive in my Fifa Save.
Attacking midfielder? Centre, wings? Anyone?

According to FM he plays all of the attacking positions?

Man united would be the right place for Lucas, SAF is good developing young players and then sell them to Real Madrid. He's good, 3th best of Brasileirao after Neymar and Oscar.
