Players unaffected by off-the-field row

MANCHESTER UNITED stars are determined all the off-field strife at Old Trafford will NOT stop them winning another title.

Boss Alex Ferguson’s bitter feud with shareholder John Magnier has dominated headlines.

But French defender Mikael Silvestre, 26, insisted: “We all watch TV and read the news- papers so we are aware of what is happening.

“But we must stay focused on our job, which is winning matches.”

Winger Ryan Giggs believes United’s players are mentally strong enough not to let all the furore affect their game.

Giggs, 30, said: “The Press has been full of stories about the off-field issues for weeks now.

“But it hasn’t affected the squad one bit.

“We are only interested in playing the game and we’ve just got on with business as usual.

“We have Everton on Saturday and Middlesbrough next Wednesday so we don’t have time to think about other stuff.”

Giggs hopes to get the all-clear to return after a back injury at Everton tomorrow.

He said: “I’m doing some training and I can still feel the strain a bit.

“But if the physio feels I can play on with it, then I’ll be happy.

“We need three points to keep the pressure on Arsenal and Chelsea.”

The Red Devil
I saw Chris Eagles goal on Sky Sports News, pretty good goal aswell, a very good talent we have here.

IMO, I hope we'll be see'ing more of him in the first-team next season, he'll probably come through the ranks the same way O'Shea and Fletcher did.

The Red Devil
Roger Byrne - Best Manchester United Skipper(Captain) of All-Time, uncomparable.

Duncan Edwards - He could play anywhere, defence, midfield, and attack, he was a complete player and had everything to be the best and some may say he would've gone on to be the best player in the world had he survived his injuries after Munich.

Denis Law - In my personal opinion, he was and still is the best striker in the clubs history, van Nistelrooy has some way to go yet to knock him off Denis off the throne - "King of the Stretford End".

Georgie Best - No words can describe his talent on the field, one of the all-time greats of the game, no matter what happens off the pitch.

Eric Cantona - There will never be another one like him, long live King Cantona.

Ryan Giggs - One of the best wingers we'll ever had, his wonder-goal vs Arsenal in the FA Cup Semi-Final Replay at Villa Park will always be etched in my memory..

Roy Keane - Arguably the most influential player in the world.

Peter Schmeichel - Greatest Manchester United keeper of all-time - The Great Dane.

David Beckham - Great player, best freekicks and set-pieces of his era, a very loyal player, great role model, and a great captain for his country.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - Not many players come back after a year on the sidelines and make a huge impact the way he did, repaying the faith when Fergie stuck by him through the bad times, 2 and a half years at the club and his form has been amazing, it won't be long till he starts picking up major awards, once he hangs his boots, he will be entered as one of the all-time greats for Manchester United FC.

----------------

It was a close-one between Bobby Charlton and van Nistelrooy. :(

Starting XI
Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville are set to return to the Manchester United line-up at Goodison Park tomorrow.

The long-serving pair have missed the last three matches with back and thigh problems respectively but have been cleared to face Everton after coming through a week's training with no problems.

Brazilian midfielder Kleberson is also in contention for a place in Sir Alex Ferguson's side after a 45 minute outing for the reserve team against Aston Villa last night.

However, the game is likely to come too soon for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who also turned out for the Red Devils' second string after four months on the sidelines following knee surgery.

United boast an impressive record against the Toffeemen, recording 15 wins and two draws in 17 encounters since the 1995 FA Cup Final.

Provisional squad: Howard, Carroll, G Neville, Silvestre, Brown, O'Shea, Fortune, P Neville, Forlan, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Scholes, Butt, Keane, Kleberson, Giggs, Van Nistelrooy, Saha, Bellion.
