Any defenders we'll get will be subs I'd assume as I can't see passed our Rio-Silvestre partnership when both are playing. The problem's come from Rio's suspension, and he'll be back early next season if not before then if the extreme punishment given to him gives way to common sense.

Would Van Buyten be happy on the bench, and would we want him now he's been tainted by Citeh?! :D

Kompany would as he's a young player and will have chance to develop further playing for us, although to expect a player as young as him to fit in and dominate the backline would be ambitious. I'd love to see it happen but you have to be realistic.

Does anyone here think theres a chance Eddie Johnson(Banging goals for England) will get first-team opportunities when he returns from his loan-spell at Antwerp(Scored on his Antwerp debut)?

Maybe next season?. :brow:

United should show a bit more respect and offer what he's worth, given PSV's financial situation.
f. that. We've ripped off in the transfer market a lot recently, bout time we paid what a players worth rather than over the odds.

Robben misses out on dream United move

PSV Eindhoven striker Arjen Robben "would have loved'' a move to Manchester United in the transfer window, according to his agent and father.

Hans Robben revealed the clubs had failed to agree a fee for the talented 20-year-old after the Premiership champions reportedly offered 7m euros (£4.8m) while PSV wanted 15m euros (£10.3m).

"I am surprised both clubs could not come to an agreement,'' Robben told newspaper Dagblad van het Noorden.

"When we spoke to Manchester United earlier this year I was under the impression they wanted Arjen very much. I don't know if they are playing a game.

"I also don't know if PSV asked for too much or if United simply didn't offer enough. What I do know is that the difference was too big and that is a shame because Arjen would have loved to join Manchester United.''

Robben moved to PSV in 2001 from FC Groningen for almost 5m euro (£3.4m) and is contracted with the current Eredivisie champions until 2007.

Solskjaer poised for comeback against Boro

Forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, out for five months with a knee injury, has been included in Manchester United's squad for the game against Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

"Ole is further on in his training than he was on Saturday, so he is part of the squad," United's assistant-manager Mike Phelan told a news conference on Tuesday. "He is in there, he is fit so it will be up to the manager to make the decisions."

The Norwegian international, however, may have to settle for a right-sided role following the arrival of striker Louis Saha, who has scored three goals in his first two games.

"He (Saha) has started very well, but it is not as if we have brought in a player from overseas," said Phelan.

"We have brought in a player who has played regularly at his last club. He understands the demands of the league."

United's biggest concerns though are defensive ones, with the side conceding five goals in their last two games.

"It is important all the players realise we have to defend better and that is what we will be doing," he added.

"The players understand it is not just about being free flowing. You have to deal with the other side, which is set pieces and defending.

"It is something we have looked at and talked about."

Phelan said the club were still waiting to hear whether the Football Association would take action over allegations their players swore or made offensive gestures to Everton supporters after they had scored their winning goal in the 4-3 victory at Goodison Park last Saturday.

"Football is an emotive game. The bench was up and down like a yo-yo so for players to get carried away is only natural," said Phelan.

"They celebrate a goal. We will see what the outcome is."

I notice there are only one or two ManU fans with realistic assessments of their performances.

First we heard that the team has not played to their optimum, but, hell, there are fourteen games left...........any idea when ManU will play to their best?

Secondly...........ManU got beat by Wolves, drew with Newcastle (a team they own), got an "offside goal" to beat S'hampton, and committed football hari-kari against Everton.
And yet ManU fans are saying, it's okay, Fergie will fix it...........well mates........how long does it take?

Thirdly..........stop hyper-ventilating over Scholes goal scoring abilities, because Saha is exposing that non-midifeld midfielder.

ManU is primed for collapse........the media has become neutral, the refs are not closing their eyes on most occasions and the team is playing phuckity (that's my word, feel free to use it in future).
Just thought I'd let you all know the facts.

van Nistelrooy's goal vs Southampton was no different to Thierry Henry's winner vs Wolves. :ewan:

Managers + players are beggining to take advantage of the new interpretation of the offside rule.

I've found Fletcher to be one of the most bland characters in a Manu uniform. Tell me, why does this inferior, piece of crap get so many opportunities to play?
