0-0 with West Ham having all the chances to score. We have been terrible. Again, that strange, risky formation with a DM, 3 attacking midfielders and no CMs. It is a very offensive formation and would work against lower league teams but not in the EPL. Blind can't do it on his own in the centre. There should have been Herrera alongside him.

McNair starts at right back. Is Rafael still on this planet? McNair may have had an excellent game against Cambridge United but he may be grilled in the EPL. He has played only 1 senior game at RB. Will be interesting how he does but I think Rafael is our best RB. He has been downgraded to 3rd choice.

Man, if van Gaal can't even win in his first season, no one can. Something is really rotten at your club. It's not the Glazers though, they are proven winners. I would point the finger at the fans.

It was a classic 4-4-2 rather than a diamond 4-4-2 in the end. Something like this:
With the team we fielded, I think this is much better than diamond 4-4-2 because it has both Januzaj and Di Maria on the wings and they had the space they needed to work their magic.
That said, a classic 4-4-2 with van Persie and Falcao won't work because they are the exact same type of player and do not complement each other. They run into each others' ways which is incredibly frustrating to watch. Both of them need service which can be provided by an attacking midfielder or a second striker along with the midfield. However, with both of them in the team, there is no SS or AMF and also, Rooney (who is now unfortunately "undroppable") then has to play as a holding midfielder and he does not provide the service that a proper midfielder would provide.
van Persie or Falcao (or both because they have been both off form) SHOULD be dropped for Herrera in order to have a balanced team. Something like this:
Or Rooney in attack with Mata behind. I would not mind diamond 4-4-2 but I am losing faith in the RvP/Falcao partnership.

if van Gaal can't get Man U to play good footie, then I hope you're right ... tbh, if that's the case, I'd rather see Soton and Liverpool make the top 4; nothing against the Arse, I'm just bored of Arsène ... also, van Gaal getting sacked at that point so he can go replace Inzaghi or Rudi Garcià would be nice ...
