Falcao still seems to be a great player but he is lacking desire, determination and sharpness and I think 4-4-2 diamond and slow and boring possession football doesn't suit him.

Despite the defeat we played well so I am not too pissed off. We created more chances than usual but our finishing was poor. Most of our shots were off target. We dominted and were in control of the game and should have won. The first goal conceded is from our poor defending. The second is a very lucky deflection. I am sure Gomis did not even know he touched the ball. Regardless, our defense must improve. Shelvey should never have been given that much of space to trigger his shot.
We went with 4-4-2 diamond again with Di Maria on the left side but playing more like a winger. Our left side was terrific and our right side was invisible. What can you expect with just McNair, a centre back operating there alone?
Herrera again justified that he needs to start. Goal aside, he played some important passes. His through passes are particularly important for fast players like Di Maria or Shaw. He is our best player for that kind of passes.
Fellaini as an AMF is a waste. Other than his height, he doesn't offer a thing. This is unfair to Mata who was on the bench. Fellaini is a very important asset as a forward as a sub but he should never start as AMF ahead of Mata.
This is our first defeat after 20 games and we have yet to play against a big side in the second half of the season. We are 4th now so this is worrying. Southampton could potentially surpass us if they beat Liverpool.

I think we will finish 4th or 5th but 3rd is still realistic. Qualifying for the UCL is more important than the FA Cup imo.
RvP is injured; I think this is an absolute blessing in disguise. He was terrible in the last game. He is very rusted from the World Cup and he may not regain his form given his age and injuries.
It will be interesting to see what van Gaal selects. I want to see Falcao as striker and Rooney behind him. I don't think this partnership has been tried. RvP and Falcao have played many games together and it is clear that they are not compatible; Rooney is capable of providing Falcao with support. Alternatively, Rooney can play as striker and Mata as AMF.
