Yeah something like that, but can you name me any other world class and proven CB who would come at a cheaper price (especially considering todays market like I said earlier)? I cannot really think of any right now.

Not that Laporte is that much "proven" already, but the guy is young and full of potential. I believe he can also fill in at the left back role, but we've already got that player as in Rojo, who might not be a "top top" defender, but can get the job done nevertheless.

Again I'm not backing the move.

Eto'o had one year left in his contract and wouldn't renew. We weren't getting 20 millions from him next year.

Thought I replied this. What makes you think he would not have been sold that season when he went to Inter for free? There are lots of players who get sold the season before their contract expires. For instance Ashley Young was bought for 18 millions the season before his contract expired. I am sure there would have been lots of interests especially from teams like Zenit or Shaktar etc even though his contract would have expired the following season.

Now you're changing the argument. I've never said anything about that.

If we wanted to replace Eto'o and get any money from him, we had to do it that season. For some reason, they thought giving 50M+Samu for Zlatan was a good deal. I didn't agree, and don't still, but I see some of the logic. I wanted Villa all along.

That was basically selling Eto'o for 20 to Inter and buying Zlatan for 65. Was Zlatan worth 65 in that summer? (After Kaka, Benzema and Cristiano) Probably yes. Was Eto'o worth just 20? Of course not. But the fact that he was entering his last year and he didn't want to renew was lowering his price.

You're chaning facts just to suit your argument. Eto'o didn't go for free, or if you consider that, consider Zlatan's price as 45 too.

They´ll spend like 70m on Pogba and then recoup some of the money selling Modric and Varane, even though they can afford it without having to recoup the money.

If Varane leaves Madrid, he definitely goes to Mou's Chelsea ...

I hope we don't waste time on unrealistic targets like this ... we are highly linked with Cavani and I don't understand why ... overrated as hell ... Luca Toni can do more good.

Cavani is quality, did you see him at Napoli? It's not his fault that he's being played out of position at PSG. He's good at the lone striker role. I know he plays a similar role for Uruguay, but still.

Falcao hasn't succeeded, but I wouldn't mind Cavani. It's just that RVP should fuck off to somewhere, Fenerbahce or US!

I don't understand how you think 65 millions for Zlatan was good. Zlatan was approx the same age as Eto'o and I am sure Eto'o would have done better than Zlatan that season. Zlatan did not meet expectations and was overpriced and flopped. I do not understand how he was worth 65 millions and I do not understand why Barcelona fans at that time thought it was reasonable.

Getting back to the initial point (i.e. Di Maria is a 60 m supersub) I do think and always thought we overpaid for him. James who is much younger and has more potential to get better was bought for the same price. The UCL final and WC overhyped him.

Yup. And they're stupid if they are. But then again they are Real Madrid.

defenders do not sell shirts so they can certainly sell Varane. This is Real Madrid with their stupid philosophy.

Cavani was in Napoli which is in... Serie A. Be careful.

Where would you put Cavani? I think Rooney should be striker and he is "undroppable" because he is captain. You get the best of him as lone striker. If we make Rooney our lone striker, we would have a good backup in van Persie. Hopefully Wilson will be good enough to be backup striker or at worse Fellaini as striker in periods of crisis. If you play with a lone striker, 3 strikers are good enough to have.,
