Well call me old fashioned but I just think that the player SHOULD NOT even think about punching the ball into the net. I really do not simply blame the officials for not spotting it.

A player should have honour and self belief. To be happy to score a goal like that is a sign of a bad sportsman and a .....cheat. There is no other word for it.

By the way I DO NOT see any reason why this discussion has to feature in any way on the country that Messi was born in. This is about an individual and not an entire Nation.

It's a business. If you can bend the rules at your job to get a promotion and big raise, you might do it. Yes, some people have honor, but most people are going to do what they have to do to get ahead. In this case, at least nothing illegal happened.

Our hunger, determination, heart have made it possible. we've grinded out tough ones and survived not cause of luck but because of hard work and the team believing in themselves which is something Barca haven't managed now. Anyway, I never once denied Madrid deserving to be where it is, OrgulloRacista. Madrid is full marks for first place and if/when they win, they will deserve it. If a team wins a league, they deserve it. I have no problem with that.

Not really, the thread was a complaint at such a disgraceful act but also a brilliant attempt at auto-derision.

Anyway, all the complaining about oh "Madrid also did this and that so blablabla" is pretty typical and very annoying. Sort your own house out before looking anywhere else. If Messi's goal goes unpunished it would be a disgrace, and the Barca fans should be the first to be criticising it. Trying to minimise certain actions because of other actons past doesn't work is petty and childish "oh but he did it first, he started it"...

But then if you don't mind "winning" that way, then I guess it says a lot more about you than anything else.

The thing that gets to me is the Madrid Mierdistas getting sanctimonious about it.

I personally don't agree with the goal, and think it was cheating. On the other hand, I understand the pressure and the motivation for a player to do that. I don't condone it, but I understand why they do it.
