You've got to shoot all the plastic frogs that are dotted about the place.

www.stuckgamer.com shows them all.

Anybody who wishes to backtrack...

Metal Gear - (NES & MSX)
Metal Gear II: Snake's Revenge - (MSX)
Metal Gear II - (NES) Unnoficial sequel.
Metal Gear Solid - (PSOne)
Metal Gear Solid II: Sons of Liberty - (PS2, Xbox, PC)

That's the lot of 'em. I'd certainly look at the MSX versions for their autheniticity to the series and the fact that they are graphically better than the NES versions.

MSX emulators are tough to come by, mind. It was an obscure early Microsoft system which the series first appeared on. Twas a nice peice of kit, mind. Right up there with the C64.
actually its like this

Metal Gear - (NES & MSX)
Metal Gear II: Solid Snake - (MSX)
Metal Gear II:snakes revenge - (NES) Unnoficial sequel.
Metal Gear Solid - (PSOne)
Metal Gear Solid II: Sons of Liberty - (PS2, Xbox, PC)

Just finished the game.... My dear god. I will say, MGS3 is one of the 3 best games I've ever played. That was absolutly awesome, the graphics, the gameplay, the longevity of the game and even the story line. I hated the game when I first got it but now. I'm nearly speechless.

I seriously can't wait for MGS3 Substance and MGS4. I will now have a month of banging on about this game to friends etc. Happened with MGS1 and 2, so I expect to follow the pattern

That's what I said. You've added nothing to the conversation. Now get out, before I have to take off my belt....

I got this game about 5 months ago but I played it for about 2 hours (including cutscenes) and found it extremely boring and frustrating. I haven't played it for 4 months now.

With everyone praising this game I'm wondering if I might like it if I get further into the game. Im at the part just after you get that first hostage guy out of the first small compound you come out of. The problem is I have the attention span of a 4 year old and cannot play a game where you are supposed to slowly crawl everywhere and you can't really kill anybody without having to hide for 5 minutes after and let the alarm go back down. Also I don't buy games to watch them and I have been skipping all of the cutscenes and talking parts which I find to be long and boring.

I enjoyed MGS 1 and 2 a whole lot but I would say out of the two hours I played of MGS3 They were the most boring 2 hours of videogames I've ever played through. The thing I miss from the previous games is the radar and the fact that it was more linear and more action based.

I guess my question is should I force myself to play longer because the first part is boring but the rest of the game is much more fun, or should I just trade the game in because if I didn't like the first 1-2 hours of the game I won't find the rest of it much more enjoyable?

I don't understand how you can enjoy MGS 1 and 2 but hate 3. 1 and 2 had just as much, if not more of the gameplay and cutscenes that seem to annoy you.

Well, I suggest you go back and see the difference for yourself, first of all the cutscenes weren't as long and there were barely if any 20 minutes stretches of gameplay where I was constintly crawling at the speed of a sloth. Also I hate not having a radar and there is only long grass and trees everywhere.

I don't know but I went back and played it for a while and it still bores me.

Believe me, MGS3 is the best of all the MGS series. I've played ever game, including the ones on the MSX and Twin Snakes. It does take a while to get going but once you get past the Virtuious Mission, its an awesome game. I found it really frustrating for ages, but practice makes perfect.

You do get a radar too, its the Motion Detector in your Item inventory.

The thing is why Konami don't put alot of efforts to port MGS series into XBOX or even PC. :( I'm thinking it could be the strategy from Konami's MGS staff to put Playstation as the best console games.

yes the sign contracts with SOny as well for the exclusivity of their games for like the first 6 months etc.

in Chyornyj Prud, there's an item up north. If you see it carefully on the upper ground, you'll see an item i.e. Crodille Cap is lying there.

This is what I've checked from game faq:
Crocodile Cap (CRCDL CP)
-Allows you to stay hidden in the jungle. (Much like the cardboard boxes.)
-Chyornyj Prud, climb the trees and cross the ropes to the cliff to the north.
-Used best when in the water.

I really don't know how to get it up there. :(
