Owen scored 19 and 16 ... playing with Heskey... :P

Is not about if Raul is better than Owen or whatever , is about Raul must play in Madrid whatever happens! and Owen benched...

You're not understanding what I'm saying. Raul is has definately been in much poorer form than Owen, but because Owen is English he will be picked on. I wasn't saying one is better than the other, all I'm saying is if people want to look and point the finger at an out of form player for club and country, Raul is you're man. Anyway the 16 goals Owen scored last season is amazing considering, unlike Raul he was injured for alot of the season ;)

The difference is that Raul is probably the most important player for the fans. He's a boy from Madrid, played since the age of 17(?) for the first team and performed well over 8 years. He earned his credit.

Owen on the other hand is a new player and has to convince everybody. He needs to score for Real, they don't look back at his games for Liverpool.

Right now it doesnt make sense for anybody to willingly come to Madrid if they play midfield or forward. He should have gone somewhere where he would be guaranteed a lot of playing time. Of course, the money must be good, so that's probably why he came. He'll be an expensive bench warmer.

why would someone go to real madrid knowing they allready have 3 awesome top class strikers already? morientis, ronaldo, and raul.

i thought liverpool was going to have such a good season this year but his departure ruined it

Our season is not ruined. Damn, it's october, and it ends on May 2005. And at this kind of form, Owen wouldnt be helping much either.

Well that's fair enough, but people shouldn't be saying his career is going backwards after what? 4 games and most of them games he has appeared in have been substitute appearances.

I think Owen was a total idiot for leaving Liverpool and going to Real. At Liverpool he was the main man. He was king. After Gerrard, Owen spot in the first team was assured. He left all that to go to a team where he should have known he would have no chance to start.

Even if Raul is poorly performing he will always start, and Ronaldo is Ronaldo. Then there is Morientes who was on fire last year. Did Owen seriously believe he had a chance with those 3 in the team?

Not a smart move at all. But he moved saying he wanted to further his career and win titles (something he wasnt getting at Liverpool). Looks like he'll going to be watching the titles at a nice spot on the bench.

That, if Real Madrid wins a title.(H)

most people are saying that from last season when his form started dipping. anyways it was a pretty stupid move, b/c Raul and Ronaldo always start, and Morientes returned to the Bernabeu. so the only way owen was gonna start would be if Ronaldo and Raul got injured and he and Morientes could play. but even that doesn't appear to be happening, since Ramon prefers Guti

Which again is stupid seeing as he was injured for much of the season, but still managed 16 goals. People just love jumping on his back.

Heh, No im not, Im just saying that Owen at his best is better then Morientes at his best. I agree with everything else, I think Owen's career is going backwards..It was going backwards at Liverpool and now its getting worse in Madrid.

People tend to forget that Raul's poor form started the season Ronaldo came to Madrid. Now, I'm not saying they don't work well together but before Ronaldo, Raul and Morientes were absolutely lethal, Morientes was knocking down balls for Raul to run onto.

Raul was the frontline striker, Morientes was the support. Now that Ronaldo has taken Raul's place he's been pushed into a supporting role when clearly he'd be better off playing as the main striker. But this isn't saying Raul can't play well as a supporting striker, because he can - it's just that he'd be much more effective if you drop Ronaldo and bring in Morientes. Not going to happen though.

Try get van Nistelrooy or Makaay to play like Bergkamp and see what happens. It's the same situation with Raul.
