2007 SEASON

EAST

WEST

-----------------

With the arrival of Beckham, the addition of Toronto FC, the creation of the SuperLiga, two more soccer specific stadiums opening (Colorado and Toronto) and the new TV deal (3 live games per week: Thursday night on ESPN2, Saturday night on FSC, Sunday afternoon on Univision) this is looking to be the most exciting MLS season ever. This season will have a great impact on the seasons that will follow it and the success of soccer in America. If people will tune in and buy tickets then I believe soccer will become one step closer to becoming the sport that is loved all around the world. GO MLS!

The TV deal is awesome, BUT a major pet peeve of mine is that the games will probably not be presented in high-def (at least I've never seen an MLS game broadcast in high-def).

Never been to an MLS game, but if Beckham comes to Chicago or Columbus I may just have to make the drive.

I've heard that the Thursday night matches on ESPN2 will be in HD, so you're in luck.

I want to say Chicago will win it all, but that's just not going to happen. We shot ourselves in one foot by leaving Jaqua unprotected in the expansion draft, and then in the other by trading Herron to Columbus. Our top two scorers from last season. We used to have great depth at forward. Now we have Rolfe, Barrett and... uh... the waterboy and the boot cleaner backing them up. McBride might be coming back to his hometown in the summer though.

I predict Toronto is going to win it.

I'm not taking you seriously because I'm sure you know yourself that there is no way that that is happening especially with the way the playoff qualifying will work this upcoming season. Taken from Wikipedia: "At season's end, the top two teams of each conference will make the playoffs; in addition, the next four highest point totals, regardless of conference, will also be in the playoffs."

I'm not sure how the seeding will work but this also means that there will only be a single bracket and not two, East and West which is a great move into the direction of a single table (Y)

But back to why it will be so hard for Toronto to qualify. Basically these guys will all be together for the first time and even if they finish 3rd in the East there is a chance that they won't make the playoffs because the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th teams in the West would have highter point totals. I think it's pretty safe to say that Toronto won't finish in the top two in the East and that the West will be the stronger conference this season (I don't see New York, Columbus or Kansas City making any big steps forward this season). I'll be rooting for you guys to make it because I'm sure the playoff atmosphere up there at BMO will be amazing but it's gonna be tough.

Oh by the way I'm feeling one of the LA clubs will win it all this year. I had a good vibe about Chivas last year before the season started and they surprised a lot of people, I think they will just keep getting better. As for the Galaxy, they will have the best midfield in the league with Beckham and Donovan and unlike last season Donovan will be there for the entire year. I think RSL is gonna have a good year too.

I know, I just hope we won't be a horrendously terrible club for more than a few season because that would make me depressed (after the fact that i will fall in love with the club)

I have a feeling that this is the year that the Revs...................implode and finish bottom of the league, sparing me a potenially fatal heart attack, caused by yet another choke at MLS Cup.

yeah I cant wait for this. Im so excited. Hopefully all the MLS fans (American and Canadians) can pull through to grow this league all year.

+ on top of all this football news. It was announced by Mo Jo a few months ago that a "New World" Football tournament would be made for "pre seasons" hopefully in a few years.

"New World" are the new leagues compared to the classic ones. IE:

1) MLS (Canada and USA)
2) A-League (Australia and New Zealand)
3) J- League- Japan (best of them all at the moment, rivals many European leagues)
4) K- League- Korea

To have friendlies as pre-season games would just rule.

anyways , onward with the pre-season starting soon.

MLS vs. J-League teams would be some interesting match-ups for sure
personally, i do believe that MLS vs Arabian teams are much better like al ahly, al ittihad considering that J league is full with Brazilian wannabes.. (no offence to japanese supporters though)

Beckham is a poor man's Terry Cooke. He's rubbish.
erm..he's former 2nd best player of the world for two times..
although his quality is quite low now..but he can do other things too..he can boost the MLS image for the americans itself considering that his wife is american popstar...
who knows
& pls dont compare him with pele cryuff or whoever that 've played NASL in 1980++ because the time & situation is diff. now..

who knows he can do the right thing for soccer in america after this..?..who knows??:jambo:

I heard that few weeks ago there was a a poll in the MLS site that said something like "Which world class player would you like to see in the MLS?" the 3 options were: Beckham, Ronaldo and Figo, apparently Beckham was winning with a good difference over the other 2. Wonder how much influence did that have with Beckham's transfer.:o

Also look this thing available now at Subside Sports.

They know their business.(H)
