Woah! Where's he been since he left Man United? Last I remember Reineri had signed him to Chelsea and was calling him "the best in the world" (not that I have a good memory, I was in england while it happened so I have that edition of the sun as a souvenir). I haven't heard from him since.
Edit: the other United

After he left Chelsea in 2005(?) he joined Inter Milan and in the middle of 2006 he returned to Argentina to play at his beloved club, Estudiantes, and right after they won the Apertura 2006/07. It was believed he would stay in Estudiantes until his retirement, even he rejected an offer from D.C. United early this year.

What do you think of Eddie Johnson going to Fulham? I don't know why MLS transferred him...I mean it looks like Fulham is going to be relegated....

Nike just bought the USL outright...

They are going to try to compete with Adidas and MLS to become the best league in North America from what I've heard.

Rochester is being bought by Shifty Williams from England who is somehow tied to Blackburn. He is paying off all our debt, finishing Paetec Park, getting rid of the crack house in the surrounding area, improving the team (bringing in two players from england with some international experience making us the team with the highest payroll in USL and maybe even more than the lower MLS teams) He wants to bring back the glory years to Rochester. Shifty Williams has been with city officials the past two days and once everything is finalized it will all go public.

Also I guess some of his buddies plan on coming over to the US within the next couple of years and buying USL teams and expanding.

Best league in North America is the Mexican league. (H)

I can't see the USL taking the reins from MLS, although the competition could end up screwing both leagues.

USL cities like Seattle, Portland, Vancouver and Montreal are all lining up to get into MLS. They have just authorised Seattle to promote their whole team to MLS.

The bigger cities with the bigger media markets are all MLS, so I don't know how the USL would compete there.

Look at the NFL and the NBA, both were formed out of two leagues. I don't see how the competition could hurt the MLS.

It's quite simple basketball and american football are national sports and pastimes. Soccer is still very fragile to survice a clash of 2 leagues.

I don't know why Nike would do this...They know how big a money maker soccer could be in the US. Competing against MLS, would really be bad for US soccer. Look at what happened to CART racing, IRL started to compete with them, and now both series now have no attendence and no interest.

Nobody cared about pro basketball when the NBA and ABA merged. Games weren't even televised.

why do you think they merged? they were both almost dead, until someone got smart and realized the only way to survive was to avoid competition.
