And if you can use missing players as an excuse then I hope you realize that you just voided the right to negatively comment on the fact that the current Portugal squad is a lot different than the WC Portugal squad.

But at the time that was your strongest squad.

Our strongest squad in July is different from our strongest in 2002. For example, Bocanegra is one of our best defenders now if not our best, but in 2002 he wasn't even at the World Cup.

I know your top squad is different now, but these things change all of the time. They are supposed to change.

At that time? At that time I doubt Figo was the best mid in Portugal or that BAIA was the best. There were many mistakes in the lineup that haven't been made since.

What bugs me is the inability of the US fans to face that the result of that game was maybe not a fluke, but at least a strange result not likely to happen again in a near future.

Why do you have to be over your heads in every subject not just football? It makes me sick...


My opinion is although USA NT has improved a lot, you're still walkovers for top teams if everything goes normally.

And I'm freakin sick of hearing about a 14 year old kid that was born in some african country that you say that is going to be the best player in the world in the future. :kader:

if had to bet money on a U.S. vs. Portugal match no matter WC, friendly etc. id place it on Portugal everytime....9 times out of 10 they would probably win

only thing that strikes me is whether Portugal have ANY rivals at all...b/c it seems like U.S. is the one team they hate more than others...and its not like they have played a lot...and the U.S. really only has the WC win...so how could portugal soccer fans really hate the U.S. NT that much and not say its b/c of the WC match

Well I guess our RIVALS are Spain, but there's not much HATE there. The thing with the USA was the attitude of winning. If we had beaten the USA I bet you we wouldn't be saying 3-2 today. :rolleyes: I also doubt we'd call it our best win ever.

Because every freakin time that a topic like this arises some american brags and bashes the portuguese fans with the 3 - 2 win at the World Cup, which makes us portuguese fans sick.

well we couldnt since we WOULDNT of won...i dont care that we beat portugal at all....im just glad they made it far in the WC...even if it was a bad one in my eyes....but i dont feel like your targeting me when you talk about U.S. fans since i dont rate that win as a huge thing...it was good but it doesnt make or break U.S. soccer

well not ME lol...and you are right with some fans, but i really dont take them seriously as you shouldnt either....not like U.S. have a player that is anywhere near the type of player Figo was...even though not hes still better than anyone on the U.S. team

3. Norway (they do not know anything about soccer IMO)

and i dont understand why anyone hates the Brazil national team, they play the best soccer around, its so good to watch these guys play...

I love watching Brazil. That 3-5-2 and 5-3-2 they play where the wings turn into defence and back and forth, when a side can pull that off, like Brazil can you know your in for something special.

It's different for them to play it than euro teams, because most teams in Brazil and South America use that tactic, so they are used to it. I think it's the best tactic when used effectively

only like 1 person said that, and don't you think that it makes americans sick, when some portuguese fan bashes the american fans with the "Americans made a bad tackle in the last 20 minutes" or "Americans suck, because they don't come from Europe" or some other **** like that.

Show me where a Portuguese person said that then. Show me. And if you're first comment is about my comment, I was refferring to VARIOUS HARD and ILLEGAL challanges which weren't called in the closing minutes. So please do show me where a PORTUGUESE fan said any such thing, and I'll personally stop supporting Portugal.

Ferguson said that he likes American players because they have that "I have to win EVERYTHING" attitiude. Its part of their culture. In American culture, there is NO honor in defeat whatsoever. One of the only cultures in the world that pays no respect for simply trying....

Good or bad? Neither, its just culture...maybe just annoying to some. I like that about Americans.
