FIFA 98 is by FAR the best installment in the FIFA series.

The older the series gets the worse the games are.

FIFA 99 wasn't that bad, it's still a million times better then the ****ty 2000 and 2001.

Why keeps everyone saying fifa 98 is the best? It's way out to dated now.

- The graphics are to outdated (less detail compared to soccer games now)
- The A.I. is not well programmed, it's still to easy to beat the game, although the game is difficult on worldclass, the oppenent players still makes dumb moves wich won't happen in real soccer matches.
- The gameplay isn't also very realistic, the game doesn't have an own character. It's just boring computersimulated soccer with controls the respond to late. It just doesn't feel nice while playing the game

- Few good points in the game are the huge choice of teams, the very nice menuscreens and the commentary is really good.

FIFA RTWC 98 still beats the crap out of the newer FIFA's when it comes to realistic game play!

I play Fifa 99 all the time. I consider it one of the greatest sports games ever created on PC.

Yes, soccergaming must have deleted the thread since they must have thought it was about warez.
Maybe it was, I can't remember...
However warez are no longer allowed on these boards...

"Yep, there is still no PC game to beat it..."

Dunno about that one, the Uefa Champions 99 to 2002 series of games are ok, completely different from the EA style of football, and harder and more challenging to beat, also Uefa Challenge with the official patch in my opinion leaves anything that EA have tossed out way behind, altho' i do agree that Fifa RTWC and World Cup 98 are the pick of the Fifa games.

I don't think they was as good as Fifa 98 RTWC though IMO:)

They didn't have quite so many teams in there and are coded very differently to the Fifa games, also they have the simulation option in them too, and a longer learning curve and that is the main reason that i prefer to play them as apposed to the EA offerings.
But like all the current set of Pc Football games that have been released since 98, they too have some minor niggles in the game.

Well, it seems FIFA RTWC 98 still rules the FIFA series in the game play department. However playing the Pro Evolution games on emulator probably is the best football sims on PC. A shame only that the amount of teams in those games is so weak.
