Ibrahimovich is muslim? hhmm the guy looks jewish and his surname certainly is jewish (trying to sound Bosnian/Serbian/Croation but it is very jewish)

It's not spelled vich, but vic with an accent above the c, like a ton of other surnames in the former Yugo countries. No jewness involved.

Ibrahimsson's dad is a bosnian muslim and his mom is a croatian. I remember in the 2002 World Cup before coming in as a sub he did that cross thing over himself (not sure how you say it in english), so he either identifies himself as a catholic or both, muslim and catholic.

Also, I wonder how many of the muslim players fast during Ramadan? I remember watching a Bundesliga show two years ago, and a player(his name escapes me at the moment) was fasting during gamedays. He played on Bielefeld I believe. That's crazy, I wonder if the club would have a problem with that. I know that I can't even sit down to do homework when I'm fasting, let alone perform at the top level of soccer.

EDIT: found the story....

"Begin fasting when you see the crescent of the moon," says the Quran. "And do not break the fast until you see it again." Ramadan, the fasting month for Muslims, lasts 29 to 30 days. And it does not make any exceptions for Bundesliga soccer, and that includes Bielefeld player Abdelaziz Ahanfouf. He strictly observes the religious guidelines, seeking to turn in stellar performances even when he's hungry and thirsty. This year he has to do it all while recovering from a foot injury. Ramadan, Islam and the Bundesliga. It's not easy, is it, Mr. Ahanfouf?"

ive been fasting all of them so far, its pretty easy to be honest, first couple of days are hard but then ur body gets used to it and its a breehze.

ive played 2 90 minutes games so far while i was fasting, and to be honest it wasnt that hard first half i was fine but second half i got a bit thirsty but the adrelenine gets u through it.

but at the top levell iam not sure, diarra at real madrid eats before the gams start anyway. but i heard he doesnt even fast during match days, but he then fasts 5 days after ramadan is finished. but iam not sure if thats allowed in islam, if it isnt he has to fast 60 for each day he missed or feed 60 poor people.

He looks jewish full stop lol. Ibrahimovic is a jewish surname just like Abramovic. You can't be Muslim and Catholic at the same time, that is paradox.

i dont think that proffesional players fast in match day, they fast all the month but not in match day, and they replace the losing days, after the month is finished.

If I remember reading right Diarra has said that he does fast but he breaks it 2 days before matchday so he can be ready for the game and makes up for it later. So yea your basically right. If I remember reading right the coaches do more light training with him when he is fasting and they also have he eat right in the morning to make sure he is ok while they train.

he is bosnian, so for that he's got his surname with VIC, coz they are so many people that has this from ex-yugoslavia.

Dude, if it was Vucic, Kovic, Dulic,Maric then yeah but IBRAHIMovic not, many jewish were changing their surnames during WWII, many jews have very much german sound names like Bergman, Spielberg etc. Ibrahimovic was born in Bosnia yes, but his parents are jews of Bosnian origin, jews do not have land (according to Holy Bible), you can google/wiki and say whatever, im 100% sure he looks jewish and is one.

It all depends on the person some like Diarra breaks hisfast and others ( like the Bundesliga player don't ). I know of some Mulims my self who don't have any food or water intake and they still play...they manage to get through it alright.

i'm not sure abt this but i do believe that anelka is a really good muslim.
last year i read an article from the newspaper where sam allardyce was very impressed with anelka participation in for the team (training) & since then he always give anelka some sort of excuse where he can stop the training early but with a condition that his fitness must be on par all the time
but now i dunno how's the life for anelka after big sam went to newcastle.
:)

wel abt zidane, i did see a picture of him drinking winning beer after the final CL against leverkusen. it disappointed me seriously though

For the guy who asked if muslims are allowed to make up the fasts after Ramadan...yes, they are. I've got 4 days to make up so far due to tests at Uni. I played one indoor game while fasting, but the time to eat was at half-time so it wasn't that bad...
