The funny part is that they're apparently still well over the cap even after Wilcox and Smith's contracts expire. Overspent on Posey and Peja.

PS: Rumours floating around about a 3-way trade that would send Bosh to the Bulls, Amare to the Raptors and I don't know who to the Suns. Might as well bring in Nash and Grant Hill while we're at it.

I don't see why the Raptors would let Bosh go for someone who is in the same situation. They're both FA after the 2009 - 2010 season. Amare is actually a defensive downgrade to Bosh. This trade is only good for the Bulls (Unless they screw up their roster and send their better pieces to Phoenix) It gives them a shot in the east.

Regarding the Raps....I agree with you both. We should be tanking in earnest, but Colangelo seems hell bent on getting that 8th spot and securing a couple of games worth of playoff revenue for the owners since I believe the ACC hasn't ever had both its occupants miss the playoffs in the same season.

It seems as though we're headed down a road of excruciating mediocrity....the sorta bind the Leafs have been in the last 40yrs or so where they strive and are content with just sneaking into the playoffs and get dispatched in the first or second round without any real hope of ever contending for a championship. If that's the case, then I just want a D'antoni clone coaching our squad, man. There's something to be said for those high powered offenses that are thrilling and pack the arena....I'd rather have one of those than one that's extremely boring and just grinds its way into the post season, or worse yet, misses it by a couple of games and ends up yielding us nothing but an unhelpful pick.


Anyway, I don't know two-sh!ts about this Messina dude, but I hope that he's got an inventive and exciting offensive scheme like D'antoni's with a bit more structure and discipline on the defensive end.

He's one of the best coaches in europe. But the NBA is different, even if he does come hell need a couple of seasons adjusting. Its hard to go from giving 100% every game to coaching a team play... @50% (regular season, same goes for training).
Maybe just get him for the playoffs. Could work

Apparently his contract expires after this season so they have to wait till then if they are indeed getting him.

I heard he has a style where every player knows his role and everyone is expected to improve, he keeps his system simple and effective.
