Rocky;2321388 said:If you mean by lack of knowledge of the basics, you mean players coming into the NBA these days not having good enough fundamentals, then I agree. I disagree with players being able to become fundamentally sound, it's hard to teach them the fundamentals of basketball once they've already made it into the NBA, fundamentals need to be taught in college. Sucks that most days college ball players only go to college for one year. Seriously, stay in school, you're doing the NBA and its fans a favor.
Lebron is the perfect example, a very skilled player, who lacks in key fundamental categories. When Lebron entered the league straight out of high school, he lacked in 3 key fundamental categories:
Free throws
Jumpshot form
3-pt shooting( not really that much of a fundamental skill but it's nice if you're at least good at it, especially for a small forward like Lebron)
Today, his main problems are:
Free throws-a player of his caliber shouldn't be shooting a sub-par 70% from the line. He clanks them in the clutch, too. Has an ugly routine from the line, like his jumshot form. You can argue his free shooting has gotten worse since he entered the league.
Jumpshot form-has possibly one the ugliest forms in the league. His back and shoulders go away from the basket when he jumps when they should go forward and facing the basket, not going away from it. He also releases the shot on the way down, not at the peak of his jump. He's a pretty horrific jumshooter, really.
3-pt shooting-this isn't really important, but it would nice if he actually showed improvement in it. What has Lebron been working on these four years he's been in the NBA? He's showed no improvement in the skills he's lacked since he entered the league.
Could it possibly be that Lebron already maxed out his skill set when he entered the league and is starting to regress? Highly possible and you can argue it. His defense is overrated, but at least he tries to play it, unlike any of the other players picked in the lottery from the 03 draft class besides Hinrich.

And how about that Warriors x Jazz game. The score stayed close all night long. I was upset Golden State didn't win in the end. I'm hoping the Warriors can steal game two somehow.
I think it's possible that Utah takes Chris Paul here, but to me Deron Williams reminds me a lot of John Stockton with his incredibly pesky defense and ability to see the floor and know how the get the ball to his teammates in a position where they can score.
