Haha, play the games then talk. It will be great watching dook pull an illinois and barely be challenged in a watered down conference then lose in the final too say a Villanova or UConn. Then say bye bye to She-Will, Pothead, McRoberts, Dockery, and bustboy and hello to early retirement for K and Wojo will drive the program down to the dirt.

McRoberts won't go pro after his freshman year, or at least he shouldn't. And there's no way Coach K retires in the next 10 years. He'll coach forever like Bobby Knight.

Both McRobers and Paulus have declared on numerous ocassions that they are at Duke for all 4 years so go suck a nut until you come up with something worth my time.

Yea and May and Marvin said the same ****, now look at where they are. If they are projected to go high, they will go. And who said anything about Paulus leaving early? You go suck a nut.

To be honest Duke doesn't have the same tradition that UNC does at devoloping NBA level talent (but that's definitely changing and not as bad as it used to be). Duke players just aren't NBA ready except for the rare exception after their first few years in college and so they stay for 4 years. Coach K doesn't really stress individual moves and talent, but instead coaches teamwork, hard work, and shooting. Dean Smith was definitely a coach who made you better as an individual. Duke doesn't develop talent like UNC, but they are by far a better program because the guys love each other (not gay), stay for 4 years, and almost feel like they'd let everyone down if they left early. I mean, if you stay at Duke for 2 years, you're staying for 4 unless you graduate early. No Sophs leave Duke and no juniors leave Duke, just doesn't happen.

Okay well this day and age when kids want to go the L, why do they go to dook? For teamwork, shooting? They go because they want to win, then when its all over they end up like Bilas or some other nut. I always thought that K was a selfish mutha and all he cares about is his team and never the individual players the kids in his program. So many bitter players like Will Avery, Corey Maggette, Chris Burgess and the like left his program because he was an ass, not very down to earth, all he cares about is winning (ie anything it takes to win, ie paying zebras).

"but they are by far a better program."

I'm sorry, but who won the title? I mean I can live with you saying they are the better program but 'by far' man? Where the hell have you been? Roy is going to have the Heels back within a year (my senior year) and don't even dare slack on next year. All this hate and we just won the f'in title. We can win titles too with better talent, it is disappointing when we don't but when we do the party is off the goddamn chain (40+ bonfires). People forget that Roy has been to so many final fours, now that he's not in Kansas and in a good location where kids want to go. He is going to recruit and bring carolina back to the promised land, hell we're already there. Don't you nuts realize this? So much hate, where's ronnifan when you need him.
edit: That UNC 'stresses' individual talent more than dook is pure BS.

North Carolina won one title in the last how many years? Come on, a program is much more than what happened last year. Duke's last decade plus has been one of the best runs in the history of NCAA History. What Roy is "going to" do means nothing. I agree with you, but the unpredictable future doesn't mean Carlos. With the exception of last year and the inexplicable Joe Forte year, since Dean left you guys have not been that good, plain and simple.

UNC players have better skill sets than Duke players, they're taught moves and how to break down their man in ways Duke players couldn't even expect to understand. It's not BS, it's a way of coaching. I'm not saying that the UNC method doesn't stress teamwork, but I'm saying individual moves and skills are improved at Carolina much more than at Duke. It's why until a few years ago, Carolina players have just been so much better in the NBA.

How would you even know what our coaches teach? I think Jayson Williams could cross up most players as well if not better than Raymond Felton.

dook and Carolina were on par before 97 (when Dean left). Since then we've been screwed. A few final fours but Guthridge ****ed our recruiting, he was a great coach but a very lazy recruiter. Then came Doh, amazing recruiter, kinda marbles. Now that we have stablization we're back on top with dook, if Roy would have came instead of Doh we wouldn't even been talking about this ****. dook has as much individual talent as Carolina, in 99 they made it to the title game and lost then all those players bolted. Soph's, Freshmen. When they won in 2001 juniors left the program, Dunleavy, Boozer Jay-Will. I'm even insulted that you say dook players have less skills than Carolina, they bring in truckloads of all-americans year in and year out sometimes more than UNC. Anyway, next year REYSHAWN TERRY. Look out.

Jason Williams was a better recruit and a better player out of high school than Felton.

Duke recruits a different kind of player. They recruit the Wojos and start them for 4 years, Wojo doesn't see the light of day if he plays at Carolina. I've said in the past 5 or so years the disparity in talent between the schools' players in the NBA has diminished, that's because Duke doesn't go after the Wojos anymore because they can get Brand, Maggette, Boozer, Williams, Deng, Livingston now. But those guys don't really even improve much at Duke, whereas under Dean Smith their college years wouldn't be a waste in terms of getting ready for the NBA.

I think Shifty's point is a very good one. I've always agreed with the idea that Duke players are taught the team game and what it takes to win and that is simply because of coach Krzyzewski's way of coaching basketball. What's all this crap you're saying about how he focuses so much on winning winning winning well duh :| when you step in and play for one of the best college basketball programs in the nation you are expected to win and not having a coach that would emphasize that day in and day out would probably not work so well. I'm not saying that unc doesn't do the same thing but like Shifty said Carolina players are way more individual than Duke players are a very simple way to realize this is to just watch Sports Center during the college bball season, there are probably twice as many top 10 carolina highlights than Duke highlights and that is simply because Duke players are thought to just make it simple and lay it up or nicely slam it home while unc players are given the freedom to do a 360 behind the back through the legs dunk in the meaningless first five minutes of the first half, it's as simple as that really. All the Duke players who go to the NBA become solid players for their teams, not necesarily in the stats but they are solid players who play hard defense and actually listen to the coach. The reason why they don't fill up the stat sheet like they did in college is because they are not individual players they like to pass the ball because that's how they played in college and it worked, everyone got their points eventually but in the NBA it's a different story guys are selfish and if u pass them the ball they'll shoot it and next time down the court they won't pass it back to you.

A lot of what you said is right, and it might have much to do with K's style of coaching/play/recruiting. However there's nothing wrong with individual play, thats the style in the NBA, you'll need stars to succeed in the NBA and Carolina players are stars.

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

That's the most rediculous thing I've ever seen!! I think it should be Bill O'Reilly's most rediculous item of the day! What a ******* retard! I guess you have to declare for the draft and not get taken in either round before you go to Moscow or Tel-Aviv for the rest of your career.

He's not going, he'll just end up at dook and warm more pine, he shoulda gone straight from high school knowing K's record for developing big men for the nba.

Well Elton Brand and Carlos Boozer have been pretty good lately...

PS: I emphasize on the word lately there because they're pretty much the only good Duke big men in the NBA meh...
