New Kits 2009/2010

It's not totally unique, Cruzeiro did it for a bit as did Grêmio and another Brazilian team. I do agree though that it is unique and can sometimes look better than stars depending on the look of the trophy though.

Stars are just universally recognized as being a recognition of honour, like you say if every jersey starts having trophies you probably would get questioned about it more than stars but then again everyone thinks different competitions are worth more so should this just be for international tournaments or what?

The history writes the reality, Galatasaray writes the history (writing on red stripes at both kits)

We are descendants of Mr. Ali Sami's, Hasnun's, Metin's. We are ancestors of science and sports in this country. (writing on artwork at home kit) (Ali Sami Yen : Founder of Galatasaray SK | Hasnun Galip : Galatasaray's old footballer, rollerbladed-hockey player and field hockey player. He martyrized at World War 1 | Metin Oktay : Galatasaray's #1 icon. Greatest legend of Galatasaray history. 6 times topgoalscorer in Turkish Super League.)

Hmm...that's an excellent point. It's debatable for sure.
For example, with my experience, it seems that Stars are generally used to commemorate big international victories. The bigger teams seem to focus on the what's most important to the region: IE: Europe= Champions League
and S. America = WorlD Club Championship.
Yet smaller teams commemorate other titles, like the Copa Sudamericana (IE: Arsenal in Avellaneda)

It's almost a way to show off internationally in an attempt to prove the team's history/worth, etc. I think few leagues have stars just for domestic titles (like the MLS, and some teams in Mexico do). But you can bet your ass smaller teams , who call only win domestic titles, will put stars for that too.

But many people dont know this. Like a week ago, people were getting near a Rangers jersey, and asking the guy "Wow...I didnt know Rangers won 4 Champions leagues" :coffe-anim: lol.

I think you're right on that account though. Some trophies look terrible on jerseys. IE: Imagine Liverpool with 5 Champions League cups (those bulky, fat , silver cups). On the other hand, and this is just personal, I'd think that the Copa Libertadores or Old Intercontinental cups look a lot better on a jersey.

But I like what those teams : Gremio, Cruzeiro, nacional, have done.

Estudiantes de La Plata's third/alternative jersey for 2009 has the Libertadores and the World Club trophies as watermarks

i think FIFA should regulate the stars issue
say, gold, silver, bronze stars; bigger, smaller; or whatever, but it is true that every country has it's own 'stars reasoning' (germany is an odd one)

Lucacalciatore, Im sure you're of italian background (or born there). Most of my aussie friends tell me that Italians are nearly beaten on site after the whole 06 dive debacle. lol.

Yeah my parents are Italian, but I was born and raised here in Melbourne! :P

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Italians are beaten here after that World Cup.

But I was supporting Australia at the World Cup, as I've always lived here!
I must concede that after Australia (wrongly) lost to the (diving) Italians, I did support Italy until the end of the tournament.

And it's funny because I watched that game whilst sitting in a bar in Siracusa, Sicily while I was on holidays in Italy.
Supporting an opposing team, whilst being in Italy, and chanting/shouting/encouraging the team you support, with only shady-looking Sicilians around you is not advisable!!! :D

Nonetheless, there was one drunk guy who agreed with me, saying that the penalty was wrong, and that Australia played better than Italy for that one match.

But, that's all past now!!
Let's hope it doesn't happen at the next WC.

And as for those Catolica kits, they are quite nice.
I actually don't mind this new Puma template!

In the Serie A you get awarded one star for every 10 scudetti you win. ;)

well the italian league is much more competitive than the Celtic/RAngers league.
(and i love Hearts, been following them for years closely. Words can't describe how much i despise the old firm). Who, btw, are dilusional.......both think they are 2 of the biggest clubs on earth.
(when 99% of players would pick a last place EPL team to play for over them........and they have a laughable international title record. I can name over 50 teams bigger off the top of my head.) <A lot of Glory hunters does not = "big team">
(Ask Corinthians. A LOT of fans and $$$, but relatively not very respected in S. America due to the fact that they never won anything before the 2000 world title.)

Back to the thread... :)

LOL! Rooney looks hilariously stupid doing that. Mostly once you realize that he's running alone in front of a camera and a fake picture of fans.

This popped in my head as soon as i saw that.
