NFL Thread 2014

NFL teams might shift even more than college teams, to be honest. A player spends 3 or 4 (sometimes 5 or 6 if they redshirt) years with a college team, the average NFL career is 2.5 years.

True, but with college football there is absolutely no chance of forging a long bond with a player which does happen with soccer. For someone who doesn't know the teams or the field that well, trying to get into it means finding a team that has interesting players. Knowing these players will leave by the time I get my head around it makes it a bit of a futile task.

That's why their tends to be a greater connection with the coaches in college sports. You also cheer for your players in the pros.

No, I couldn't make the first two weeks of practice and felt that it would give a bad impression to go after that, especially since I really needed that preaseason training to try and catch up with everyone's fitness. Might give it another go next year.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
1. Can you imagine if the Chargers were not as awful as they are? We'd have a 3 way tie in the NEW best-division=in-football! With the loss at his arch rival, the window has officially closed for Peyton Manning. If Brady wins one more SuperBowl, he (Tom-boy) becomes the greatest QB of all time ahead of Montana.

2. You know, I find it shocking that a hybrid QB (who has no future in the NFL - see RGIII v Aaron Rodgers) is getting more attention than:
a. Todd Gurley - the best running back on the planet, ahead of Jamaal Charles, Leshaun McCoy and A. Peterson.
b. The ONLY Wisconsin RB, in the past 13 years, to have broken Ladanian Tomlinson's record <----think about that
c. Ameer - if you don't draft me in cold weather, I too can be great - Abdullah

all 3 of who are Heisman contenders. Alabama's getting its next RB ready for next season - this season, there isn't anyone else to compete with these 3. With that in mind, you can't take a hybrid QB in the 1st round - these 3 RBs are too damn good to pass up.

It just means you have to follow recruiting too! And let's be honest here, the average college football player stays for 4 years. What did Chelsea's team look like in 2010-2011? Same as right now?

I think what you meant to say is:
a. 2010-later in 2010*, not 2010-2011 and,
b. by breaking all the FFP rules in the rule book

* I am referring to season, not calendar year.

Make America Great Again
Ameer Abdullah really isn't on the same level as Gurley and Gordon. He looked great early in the season against really weak competition. If anything, the next most impressive back in college football this year has been Pitt's James Conner.

On a unrelated note, Carolina may still have a shot at the Playoffs... We just have to beat those in our division.

Not long until my NFL debut...typically the Giants and Redskins both seem to suck this year - but it'll still be a higher level of American football than I could at home! :p
