But then again... why did you change the shooting in Fifa ? Cause i know shooting is part of the gameplay but...the gameplay mostly means how the players move on the pitch mostly. And the shooting was "good" i mean was working, people did score scorchers even with the original EA gameplay, proof you'll find plenty on youtube.And the freekicks they were also good but too good because the keeper was stupid. But now that you tuned up the keeper the original EA freekicks aren't that good so...maybe putting back the EA variables for some stuff (i mean not completely back as in copying them back, but approximately the same values) we can all be happy. In fact let's just wait and see what the other people want because in the end...the people's feedback/opinions are the priority.As for me... I think the shooting is better as it is now with the EA values cause I'm not afraid that my players receive a dentist bill from a person in the stadium or a cameraman with a busted camera :)))

As for the 4.5 update's other feedback I think that now it is much better than WE 4. The passing hasn't been touched yet I think and that won't take much time to modify so let's focus on that a bit shall we ? As I explained to you earlier I think that in some situations (the puyol one) and not only in that situation the passing is to slow. the receiver has to wait for the ball and with a attacker pressing him for the ball..that's not good. And the ball bounces a bit too much at every pass (in my opinion), make it jump but not that much please. And I think that's just about everything you have to do for the passing and then the passing is done. We'll move to other things. Oh..and the through pass is also just a little bit too slow. And of course the 1-2 pass but that's another issue. Just take your time. Thanks mate for everything.

Man... i've been trying to experiment how good the shooting is but I can only do it in practice mod with only the opposition's keeper cause on Pro in a friendly match I can't even get the ball to my strikers. The marking is pin-point. In the defense I get loads of pressing so I have to pass to my keeper the same in midfield. It's a challenge to find space and open passes...but i feel like it too much of a challenge. Even when I end up god knows how with a player (any player) in front of the box I have three defenders in front of me. One protects the left post one protects the right post and one stand right in front of me and if I try to move away from them I get jostled and loose the ball. Could you lower these values for Pro difficulty or better yet...yes this would be great: if you could copy the pressing values or whatever you modified for the Semi-Pro level so I can do more than 3 passes because the pressing is realistic. That would be ideal. And because it's for the pro difficulty you can make them a little bit better than Semi-Pro. I know it sounds too much but you gotta trust me on this one. Just do it and then we'll ask other members what they think.

Later Edit: Ooops! WTF ? I was on Semi-Pro that time ? I didn't know when I switched to Semi-Pro. Anyway ignore what i just said earlier. I'll edit later.
Even Later Edit: I switched to Pro now and played the same game as earlier with Semi-Pro and 4 minutes into the game I quit FIFA cause it was back to the ooold bully and unplayable FIFA for me. Too much pressing and all. That lighter pressing that you implemented in 4.4 beta (not 4.4b beta) was absolutely wonderfull I couldn't stop smilling. If you could bring that back in the Semi-Pro difficulty but just a notch more difficult that would be the final one for me.
BUT i cannot help notice that in Pro the CPU was smarter which is the only reason you should modify this gameplay to make it more challenging. Not make the CPU keeper a super-human or the pressing way to aggresive...but make the CPU smarter. I mean i know it cannot be as smart as a human and must compensate it with other measures but still...

Thanks very much for the continuous updates. I really think we're on the right track as far as getting the gameplay where we would like it to be.

I'm certain the feedback from Cosmo is very helpful, but should we really be making a gameplay update based on 1 person's playing style? More importantly I think that you really need to play about 5-7 games per update to get a good idea of what the update is all about. Quitting after a half of play just doesn't cut it. Also, try changing formations and tactics. I've found that this is very important.

yeah but the thing is when he releases a new beta update he releases them with very few things changed so there's not much to see if it changed to good or to bad thus he dosen't need to play 6-7 games to see this. for example he fixes the pace control (the C button) if the outcome is how he wants it to be then it's ok, if not he'll try and fix it and when he finally gets it done he moves on to another issues and so on. And I think this is the best method to do things.

I have played 2 games with the last beta and i find it very good.

The first game i lost 1-0 with Milan against Inter. I was a very realistic game (low number of opurtunities, game mostly played in midfield with the two teams fighting for the ball.

The 2nd game i play Man Utd against a small swedish team and i draw 1-1.
The game was realistic in general, i dominate completely the game and they sometimes gets an attack but i think their defense were too good. They have to much men´s in their area and it was very difficult to create good chances.

In the first game it was realisitic to have very litle space because inter has a good defence but in this case i think that the weaker teams defense sould be worse.
Of course that in reality this teams play very defensive when they play against big teams but they make mistakes in marking. If possible you should reduce a litle the marking ability and pressure of smaller teams.

But i don´t want to win easily against all smaller teams. Sometimes even teams like Man Utd or R.Madrid loose against smaller teams.


About the shooting, please don´t change it. It´s perfect now.;)

Ok guys I know just what to do. I will make it so on world class the cpu can make mistakes marking the ball. this will get rid of the 100% perfect passing lane blocking they do and just like in real life, make mistakes and allow you to pass through.

Legendary however, will be the hardest and they won't make 'errors' like this, but more or less you'll have to work for the chance more using your managerial skills.

Hey NK,
I installed WE4 onto my new computer and now when i the game loads it crashes when the loading bar is right near the start.... i tried this with your older patches and the same thing happened.... could it be vista because i had xp on my old pc and everything worked fine....

No idea what is causing this conflict mate. Sounds like your computer, otherwise everyone's game would be crashing as it would be a problem with the update crashing the game.

So this far everyone agrees that the CPU has too many players back forming a "wall" and that the marking is pin point. And I told you that this "retro" shooting type was to be the favourite ! Now the corner flag is safe :D

Well I personally didn't have a problem breaking the 'wall', but I am now re-doing the cpu marking for this type of play so that it's less "wall" and more 'player on player', you know, look for space and find the pass. ;)

I believe that will and IS looking more natural.

If you rush forward too quickly, there's a chance they'll be a few defenders who haven't marked up yet and therefore have 'free space' to make sure you can't get passed. Because you rushed forward and feel there is a 'wall' infront of you, use pace-control to slow down the play and have the defender mark you, he should stop for a while, but he WILL chase you if you wait too long (like in real life, no defender lets a striker take the p*ss). So, what you do is pace-control the play and press 'call player run' to get one of your forwards running back BEHIND your marker and you are then free to pass or through the ball on in front of him. This is what I did before to break the wall and it worked quite well, of course some cases my called up player got marked off and I had to try and out-class the defender with a dummy. when successful, the feeling was raw excitement!

I have made shooting a tad harder. Not 'corner flag' harder, I mean 'more side net' shots, more reeeaaaal close calls and goalkeepers are slightly more capable of saving shots, thus keeping the scores down since I play a full 20 minute match.

The ball physics are shaping up real good. Passess have pace and little bounce, as they bobble off the surface. Bounces from high balls are unpredictable, either going over your players' head and having to try control it quickly without stumbling over yourself, or making sure you have space as to now foul or be fouled from an air-ball. It's quite tricky now to gain FULL possession as the control is harder in those first split seconds of gaining the ball. But once in control you really feel like you can keep the ball at your pace, though this will depend on difficulty naturally. No world class or legendary CPU controlled team is going to enjoy you messing about with the ball! they'll want it back!! But you can still have them jockey you and pass at good pace without a pinball effect. So, we have;

1) good pressure from CPU
2) smarter marking
3) able to jockey
4) well paced passing
5) more natural bounce and ball physics in general
6) More close calls on shooting
7) better goalkeepers to save shots they should save, unless of course it's a Brazillian:D hahaha, well a 'great striker'.
8) a load of other stuff I've updated!!

Sooooo, it's playing much better already.

gameplay from NK are 75% perfect...the remaining 25% i think is in connection with Database.
A well done database, with real stats, where players can have 10 in speed and 80 in short pass etc can improve drastically a gameplay.So over the NK beta 4.5 you have to work to make a database for the game

Oh man...NK I don't know how you do it but please DON'T STOP ! :D Although there is a negative part from all of this particular work: why didn't we think of this earlier ? I mean Fifa 08 is about to come out and only now we are truly making FIFA a way better game thanks to you.

I just played a great tactical match. I've made it now so that players' will man-mark from the get-go. So passing is very much about finding space, taking time rather than how I had it before, how you put it "bullying". I made a perfect pass into the box where Owen escaped his marker and I juuuust missed the finesse shot, skimming the post! this has never happened before, not a pass like that. It felt like I had created a genuine chance, rather than 'pass, pass, pass *franticcally'. I thought about my build up and the cpu also stayed on the ball for longer, working and carving round my defence, as my players' automatically man-marked the cpu strikers, it felt like I was controlling a TEAM! And the cpu carved out 6 chances and put 2 away. Near the end Kaka had a long range effort that juuust missed, totally beat my keeper and wanted to go to the bottom right of the goal, unlucky.

As for my glorious England, possession ended 50/50, truly an even battle of possession and skill.

All I gotta say is thanks for the feedback!! This is truly realistic now!! I'm loving it, I can play some great 1-2's with england and great air balls.

That sounds good but don't forget ! Don't make a world class players barely miss when he's all alone with the keeper cause 80% of the time in reality this is a goal so try and make the shooting most accurate when the player is completely free of marking. You could experiment this in training with the CPU only having the keeper when let's say you're with Eto'o alone with a keeper and you shoot. If from there he misses barely then that's not cool. He should be shooting on goal but the worst scenario would be the keeper to save it. And try working a little on the D+C shot and D+Z (finesse). the D+C make it with more height cause this is usually a powerful shot and they almost never go with power but sticked to the ground. And the D+Z...I don't know make ti go more to the outside of the goal cause I've seen that from a diagonal position the players shoot more toward the middle in the keepers hands. Anyway I know you understand what I mean. Keep doing this great work.

For a striker, not matter what skill NOT to miss now and then 1v1 with gk would be unrealistic. It has to be down to the user. This is something I am working on. e.g. Sprinting at keeper is harder to shoot, rather than dribbling. There are values in the game for sliding and stretching. I will make a simple dribble shoot the easiest to aim with. However, if you're 1v1 and are running quickly, you will lose some accuracy.


But yes, most of the time if the player is not pressured then you will be on target. But not always a goal and not ALWAYS on target, any player can miss. but again, the situation is important. I will work on this.
