Objective opinion about Fifa 2k4 from a PES fan

I finally got my copy of Fifa 2k4. Dont worry, I wont do like some that just say this game is crap or this game is amazing. There are some positive aspects and negatives from Fifa 2k4(Hey, there is no perfect game).

Here are the positives that I liked about Fifa 2k4:
-Great graphics(kits and stuff are really nice and detailed)
-The crowd chant is realistic
-You can finally score from outside the box(which was nearly impossible in the previous versions)
-Gameplay has improved(but still I dont think it beats PES on that one)
-Commentary is the best ive seen from them
-Music is quite good
-I like the career mode, it was a great idea

Negatives:
-I agree with many when they say the AI tries to always run in the middle, I find it to be true, its just too bad
-Almost impossible to make any dribbles, you can have Zidane or Totti, but you simply cant get past any players. Thats something I would fix a little in the next version
-Goals are very similar, I find it hard to score new types of goals like in PES
-AI rarely make any substitutions unless they are injured, which is somewhat unrealistic


Out of 10, I give this game 7.8/10 .I can say that Fifa has definitively improved. I will be playing it, not more than PES3, but the game is good enough for me to play once in a while, the career mode is something I really like from the game. I strill however prefer PES3, but owning both FIFA and PES wouldnt hurt anyone including me.

what is the deal about pes3's gameplay
i think it's much worse than fifa,in pes players are running like horses the ball is not realistic,i don't wanna talk about the graphics cause they'are horrible,and many more.affter that how are you going to say that pes3 is better

that's the truth great post i think that you're absolutely right about that and i'm going to stick with fifa cause FOR ME it's the best soccer game.some paople wouldn't say the same thing but that's my opinion and no one can change it.

The Cpu in Fifa 2k4 does attack from the wings sometimes though it depends on the teams tactics

Have you ever even watched a football game before? You have to be blind not to see how much more realistic PES3 is than fifa2004.

Well PES seems more realistic in terms of gameplay, I mean there are some goals you ask yourself "How the hell did I score that" like in real life( I could bring up for example Ronaldinhos goal against England, that was total fluke) and players like Zidane or Totti have better chances of dribbling past a player than for example Gennaro Gattuso. In Fifa unfortunately, its pretty hard even if u have Zidane to dribble past some players, however if PES or FIFA ever decides to in a way merge the gameplay and graphics together with the depth of Championship manager (especially the transfer system), the game would be the best game EVER.

However the graphics in FIFA destroys PES3

Then stress this on FIFA fans too. The "trash" is coming both ways.

Anyways my OPINION(not necessarily everyone) is that if u have a steady job(like me) and have enough cash, just buy both. I am a big football fan and both games bring entertainement for my monmey, a game is made for entertainement. People here have to stop wasting their time promoting their fave game, it really gets annoying after a while, both sides(Fifa fans and PES fans) are guilty. Both games have flaws just like both games have great features, just enjoy both of them.

I agree. And that comes from someone who has always played Fifa (because it was PC based - I don't like consoles much because of the lack pf editing facilities - but I have never argued that Fifa is a better game than PES). But PES fans have always got the bad rap.

But now PES is coming to the PC I am making the logical (and I stress LOGICAL) step of buying PES this year. I am sick and tired of tweaking gameplay every single year.

fair enough...a constructive post and a valid opinion, still can't help my feelings towards the FIFA team and their "concept" though...after spending money on past FIFAs, we all reserve the right to criticize, and harshly at that !
