They were so nonchalant about it on SportCenter, it was kind of funny although it's a bit tragic.

"Yeah, so Sean Taylor got shot in the groin. Family doesn't wanna give out anymore info. So anyway, on to more important matters, Sunday football highlights!"

haha. yeh they were like trying hard to be serious and have sympathy for him but were in the back of their minds like, this **** was bound to happen.

Sean Taylor, dead at 24.

Yeah.... I mean like you guys said, probably not the most shocking thing in the world, but still, wow.

Everytime I think of FLA players, I always imagine them coming up from a similar place to what's shown in that video, or something, man. Maybe Callum can fill us in about these FLA neighborhoods that these guys rep. ST's bio says that he was from the Richmond Heights area.....how would that section compare to the area(s) depicted in that video for example?

Is he from the same neighborhood as Chad Johnson? That place is ******* rough.

I'm not sure, bro, as I'm not too familiar with the geography of FLA, but from what I've been reading about 'em ever since his Freshman year coming into Miami, the dude came up through a harsh part of town and was pretty much a delinquent with a foot in a jail cell all through out his teens and ****, but because he was so immensely gifted physically, he was able to dodge and avoid some of the more serious pitfalls that a street life brings about.

GOOD GOD! Please noooo! Boy that's shockingly numbing, man. What a waste, what a tragedy, man. I'm trying to convince myself that this is all bull**** right now and that he'll be up and about and back on the field as strong and healthy as ever in about 3/4 weeks despite all the evidence pointing overwhelmingly to the contrary.

wow....this is so ******* depressing, man. It happened so swiftly.....right out of your typical stock Hollywood script about ****ty parents, growing up in the slums and falling in with the only crowd around, the wrong crowd, and proceeding to lead an irresponsible and neglectful life. Then all of a sudden, climbing up from the dire predicaments that one is surrounded by and making out of the rough and poverty stricken life by means of one's athletic gifts and rising to the fame and riches that one only dreamt about or saw on the television. Then in attempts to keep loyal to one's hood and former ghetto life, one finds himself back in the same destructive and violent circumstances, has a a run in with the law and a close call on one's life, and then one finally starts to mature and has an epiphany of sorts and turns a new leaf but only to have it all taken away so quickly through some karmic punishment or cosmic joke......sheesh.

I really loved this dude's game, man. Ever since he was getting some burn as a true Freshman on that '01 legendary Hurricanes team on certain special packages. He was destined for legendary status, not just among defenders or Safeties, man, but overall. He's one of few defensive players in the decade or so that I've been falling football seriously that was able to captivate and lure me away from concentrating on the offensive side of the ball...seriously. What sort of stance he was in, how far or short his drops were. He was just that dynamic and exciting to watch, man. You'd be praying that he would not run a train on one of your favorite players that week and ****.

Few had the menacingly violent presence that Sean did, man. And I'm gonna be ******* missing 'em a lot.

I just hope that the media is a bit more sympathetic and compassionate now that he's perished, instead of that stance of callousness, cold-heartedness and ridiculing of his dire state like "Oh, just another homicidally violent Nigger who chose to cling and court the lifestyle of his youth" that they chose to take when the story first broke

jeez....you forget that he was only 24, or atleast I do anyway because he's had such an impactful and notable career already, man.

twenty-mother*******-four.....sheesh!

Yeah, 24, that's how old I am. Like you said man, he was just an incredible talent, and definitely one of my favorite defensive players in the league, and also when he was at the U (and I hated the U). That's gotta be rough getting out of the crowd you fall in with as a kid, so I can kinda feel for him. It's not like an All-Pro safety can just disappear and reinvent himself.

Wow, that sucks. That's scary, he was only 24. I've been watching him since he was a freshman in that super NFL-esque Miami Hurricane team. So it seems as if he had been around forever yet he's only that young.

I honestly thought they were exaggerating about his condition. I mean, someone as physically gifted and strong as him dying from a shot to his leg is crazy. But **** happens. I'm still shocked at how young he was.

Im from Orlando where these neighborhoods are pretty much nonexistant but I do know of people from Miami who describe parts as "stay the **** away." Miami is known for all the drug dealers and gang bangers that live there, of course it has its nice parts like south beach and all that, but the other side is not too nice.

Poor guy, great player, I heard he protected his wife and kids by standing up for them and taking a bullet, if thats true, than what a hero.

I think I, along with most people, assumed that the "burglary" was a cover to murder Sean Taylor, but we'll have to let all the facts come in.

Yeah, I also am anticipating what exactly will come up out of all this. Hopefully they get the guy who killed him.

I'm thinking the same way as Shifty, that the supposed burglary was just a cover-up... Who didn't like Sean Taylor the football player? I think back now to the Pro-Bowl where he annialated a kicker, can't remember who but at the time it made me do the "oouhhh, did you see that" expression.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor

Wow, 24 years old, like Yoss said, it's numbing to think of someone dying so young especially a millionaire NFL player. May he rest in peace.

yeah. I'm still numb and bummed out, man. This was supposed to be a great week for me both personally and sports-wise. The NCCAB was getting started in earnest with the ACC/BIG10 tourney, you've got rivalry week coming up in the NCCAF, the 'Boys/Packers epic battle later this week...****. All of that now is downgraded and tempered significantly, man. I've never been a huge fan of the foreskins, infact I ******* loathe 'em, but ST always captivated and drew my interest enough to make me tune into 'em whenever they were on.

If only he'd taken heed to the first home invasion and had stayed away from Miami altogether or invested in better security, man. A ******* machete? I realize that with his priors, he couldn't own guns, but WTF, man? Terrible judgment in a long history of bad decisions. It's really sad, man. He was far from a saint, but to get hit with what seemed like a warning shot of sorts and die from it is just pitiful, man. Especially now that he was making a genuine effort to turn around his life off the field.

what a loss.....I realize that Ronnie Lott was the Jordan of his position(s), but I feel that ST was the closest to him in every facet of the game. He had the potential to honor in all the three defensive back positions, man.

an absolute freak shot, I suppose.

Seems like only yesterday that I was saying "I hope that badass billy goat with the colored visor is picked by the Raiders" in the '04 draft, man.

Darrent Williams died the last week of the season last year. A week before the Wild Card playoffs. Other than that, not sure.
