Has anyone praised Friedrich's performance yet? He was better than Lahm. He finally had a good game and played with a lot more confidence.

About the penalty shootouts: Germany is 4-0 and has made 17-18 in their history...

What stage is Ballack really at in his recovery? Seeing him at the end of the game, I was certain he'd miss the semi-final. Apparently he'll be fit...

I'm not sure...

T Frings is under investigation by Fifa for his role in the melee which marred Germany's quarter final win over Argentina

It looks more like he is defending himself, thats what Frings said. He put his hands up to push him away. If he gets banned, i will go insane :kader:

Frings protested his innocence.

"I found myself in a crowd of people where everyone was hitting out wildly," he told German newspaper Kreiszeitung Syke.

"I took two punches myself. I put out my hands to protect myself, that was all."

This is a good question, I think if Ballack is out there at half speed it might not be the worst idea to take him off, throw Kehl on there and have Borowski play as an AMC.

Or another idea would be to bring on Odonkor and play Schweinsteiger as the AMC.

Or perhaps bring on Neuville/Asamoah/Hanke and play Poldi behind the strikers.

meh losing two minutes before the final whistle and and a penalty shootout that probably would have sent us to the final really sucks but let's look ahead.

First off, there's still a game left on Saturday. I'd play Kahn as it would be his last nt game. Would be a nice gesture.

Klinsmann better stays. He's stated he's unsure about his future and needs some time before making a decision.

Kahn, Lehmann, Neuville and Schneider might be retiring but that's about it. The rest of the core stays together for the next couple of years and, with a bit more experience, should be real contenders. The Mertesacker-Metzelder duo will be worldclassand Podolski will learn from the best in Munich so the attack should be lethal.

Some thoughts about the semi final:
1. Frings might change the game
2. Odonkor is a flop, schneider might be tired and slow but he can certainly help out in some build up play. Odonkor just runs and cross the ball into nowhere.
3. Borowski is doing pretty good and has energy left but he was subbed, wth?
4. Ballack doesnt exist, at least by our expectations
5. Podolski (:/) , oh well he needs more experience.
6. Lahm and Friedrich are awesome.
7. I really miss Deisler.

Are you kidding me? Odonkor is great on that right flank. He wins the ball and takes it down the field almost with ease. He set up Podolski for a free header.

Hats off guys on what must be called an absolutely wonderful effort in the World Cup. Firstly, your fans, citizens and authorities were first class the whole way. Not so much as a shade of any significant trouble, and the support for your team was inspiring from the first minute.

But your team above all has really impressed me. Lehmann has won even more of my grudging adulation after how well he did in that shootout. Podolski, Lahm, Huthie (just wait), Odonkor, Metzelder and Schwein....you know, all will form a nasty core for your NT in the coming years. Frings, Ballack and above all Klose showed why they were world class. If it wasnt for a bum call after the Argie game, you might be sitting in the final now. Not at all bad for a team that was pasted 4-1 just a few months ago. All tournament long you met and exceeded expectations, and teams that were considered more talented like the French, English, Brazilians, Dutch, etc cant say the same

Chin up Germans, you have reason to be very proud. :jap:

That's pretty much forfeiting the game :|. Kahn can start, but Hitzelsperger and Nowotny? Subs maybe, but not as starters

Who cares about the Third Place game? Only countries like South Korea and Croatia remember that they finished first. Germany has been to the Final 7 times, a third place trophy means nothing. Let the guys who haven't played yet get a game in the World Cup.

Betis set sights on Schneider

The Bayer Leverkusen star was a central player in Germany's impressive journey to the semi-final, and played 83 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Italy before being substituted for David Odonkor.

Now his showings in the World Cup have prompted Betis to have a look at the wide midfielder as they seek to compensate for the likely departure of star man Joaquin.

32-year-old Schneider is currently contracted to Leverkusen until 2009, but is believed to be keen for a foreign adventure.

According to reports in Spain, Betis's opening discussions with the star's agent have proved productive, and the Liga side could push for an agreement with their Bundesliga counterparts.

The Seville side have made no official comment regarding the speculation, but their coffers should be swelled if Joaquin leaves as expected, and a player such as Schneider would certainly fall within their budget.
