He's shit. He moves well, he works well with Chicharo, but if you focus the attack on him, that's what happens. Also, he has no left foot. I feel like a noob for thinking he was Europe footy material a couple of years back.

De Nigris is a good compliment to Chicharito but yesterday he had a bad game missing two good chances.

I would like to see Jimenez pair up with Chicharito see how they manage, seeing as Peralta is out and has not made a good partnership with Chicharito.

It's definitely Chepo's fault for playing favorites. He singled out Vela for not playing when lesser players were in similar situations and still getting call ups. Not to mention he got reprimanded for that incident in Monterrey and received a more harsh punishment than everyone else.

Of course, now that Chepo sees that he's playing well, and he's struggling with the same tired tactics, he wants Vela to come to the rescue. He ends up trying to talk to him and ends up not calling him up because Vela wants to play the last game of the season, which could clinch a Champions League spot. But Chepo decides that it's considered special treatment, so he decides not to call him up.

Meanwhile, Gio ends up playing with Mallorca, he will go on a private plane to Houston to catch up with the team, and no one says a peep about "special treatment". So yeah, Chepo bug his own grave there.

Anyway, obviously I want Mexico to do well in qualifying and in the Confederations, but I won't lose any sleep if they play like they have and he gets canned. I'm confident that the problem with Vela is squarely with Chepo and he will accept another manager's call up.

if he keeps calling Salcido, might be because no youngsters have stepped up to the plate.

maybe he could try Reyes but he always has at least one play in a match where he tries to play fancy and messes up.

Salcido can still get the job done in midfield but not as Leftback, too slow.

He's even worse in the midfield. I always say I'm gonna count the times he erroneously gives away possession as a mid, but I always lose count. He's not suited at all to play a mid. If Chepo is gonna keep calling him no matter what I rather see him at left back. At least he's experienced there. Herrera - Zavala pair up for a half and you couldn't even tell Mexico was down to 10 men. That tandem needs to start because the difference is night and day. Salcido is no Rafa Marquez to be able to play mid in his mid 30s, he just lacks the vision.

Exactly, he loses possession with the opposing midfield and his ass won't run back to recover the ball. Leaving another midfield or defense to do the dirty work for him. This is exactly why there is not a creative or simply a 'working' midfield for Mexico atm... On top of that, his dribbling is usually 10% effective or not effective at all.
