Well still not much regarding transfers, except some rumours and other stuff. However the only confirmed transfer is that Leandro Gracian will be going to Monterrey for only 4 miilion of dollars. This got me mad because i'm surprised Vélez is letting him go when they probably could get twice as much money, and also what is he expecting from Moneterrey? Now if that was the proper price for Gracian i'm a bit mad that other argentinian teams, Independiente comes to my mind even after they were interestested on getting him, didn't try to sign him for such ammount.

Well, the 2nd team that got promoted to the first division is Nueva Chicago, they will return after getting relegated in 2003/2004.
For the third time in less than a month the olympic stadium of Cordoba holds over 40,000 people for the match between Belgrano Cba. and Nueva Chicago. The first match Chicago won 3-1, on the 90 minutes Belgrano was winning the match 2-0, so they had to go into the extra time, some minutes after the first extra time starts, there's a penalty for Belgrano, Belgrano went up 3-0 that result was giving Belgrano the promotion, but few minutes after Chicago scored and the 3-1 was going to take them to the penalties, but in the 2nd half Nueva Chicago scored 2 more goals making it a 3-3(6-4 on the aggregated for Chicago) and so they earned the right to play in the first division after getting up from a 3-0 in less than 15 minutes.

About the other promotion spot for the 2nd division, Villa Mitre won over San Martin T. it was 4-3 on the penalties for them, the match was a 2-2(3-3 on the agreggated). So there will be a duel of saints in the play-off. San Martín de Tucuman will play against San Martín de Mendoza. And the other play-off match will be between Defensa y Justicia and the winner of the reducido of the metropolitan 2rd division, CD Morón, that won 2-1 on the final against Central Cordoba.

So for those who are a bit lost the promotions and relegations of the 1st 2nd and 3rd division, for now, there are the play-off matches yet.

Relegated from the 1st division: Instituto Cba. and Tiro Federal.

Promoted to the 1st division: Godoy Cruz and Nueva Chicago.

Relegated from the 2nd division: Juventud Antoniana and El Porvenir.

Promoted to the 2nd division: Villa Mitre B.B. and Platense.

So the first leg of the play-off matches will be played the wednesday.

Play-off 1st/2nd division - Wednesday 31/5

Belgrano Cba. vs. Olimpo B.B.
Huracán vs. Argentinos Juniors

Play-off 2nd/3rd division - Wednesday 31/5

San Martín T. vs. San Martín Mza.
CD Morón vs. Defensa y Justicia

The second leg of these matches will be played the next Monday, except Morón's match that will be played the Sunday.

Interesting thing that if Belgrano earns promotion and Olimpo gets relegated, there would still be a team of Cordoba in the first division and the Baiha Blanca's classic Olimpo-Villa Mitre would return after some years. Now if Huracán earns promotion and Argentinos gets relegated it would mean the return of 2 classics, Huracán-San Lorenzo and Argentinos-Platense.:o

Great work Diablo Rojo. (Y)

Any word of the fixtures for the Apertura? I know the tournament is set to begin the weekend of the 6th of August but I haven't found anything regarding fixtures.

River Plate has sold percentages of 15 youth players to a group of investors in exchange for U$S 3 million. Nearly all the percentages sold were 15%, with a couple set at 10%. Personally, this move disgusts me. How is it possible that a club that has sold over U$S 100 million in players is selling off portions of its assets to raise a measly $3 million to buy Caceres and Rolfi? Aguilar makes me sick...

Since it seems Caceres(River has allegedly made use of their purchase option) and Rolfi are staying, Belluschi has become the #1 priority. The negotiation is tricky however, with Macri already elevating the price, and Lopez not helping either with the price tag. Hopefully we can land both Belluschi and Ortega for around 6 million and that would be an excellent deal.(Y) Should Belluschi arrive, that would mean the departure of Jonathan Santana to Spain, supposedly Sevilla.

My ideal River Plate for the Apertura 2006:

-------------------------------Lux------------------------------
---Ferrari------Caceres----Lussenhoff/Tuzzio-----F. Dominguez---
---------Belluschi-------------Ahumada-------Zapata------------
------------------------------Gallardo---------------------------
---------------Farias---------------Rolfi/Figueroa/Falcao/Ortega--

is the relegation/promotion thing over already?

What teams will be in the first division next season and what is the list of teams for the second division for next season?

Regarding the fixtures i didn't hear anything yet but more likely, it will be definied on these days now that the play-offs finished. It will start some weeks after the world cup, if i recall correctly the first week-end of August.

Regarding transfers, Nanni returns to Argentina to play in San Lorenzo, also Verón returns to his beloved Estudiantes. Leiva from Banfield, Colman and Figueroa from Chacarita Juniors will all be going to belgium. Belgium, a new destination for argentinian players?

More movement with the coaches, Veira signed with Quilmes, and Alfaro signed with Arsenal.

I don't really know a lot about the issue but Boca is planning to build a whole new stadium, however some people doesn't like the idea of leaving "La Bombonera", which actually is an unfinished project.

Well the play-offs finished so the season in Argentina is finished here the scores. Of the 1st leg.

Play-off 1st/2nd division

Belgrano Cba. vs. Olimpo B.B. 2-1
Huracán vs. Argentinos Juniors 1-1

Play-off 2nd/3rd division

San Martín T. vs. San Martín Mza. 1-0
CD Morón vs. Defensa y Justicia 1-1

And the 2nd leg.

Play-off 1st/2nd division

Olimpo B.B. vs. Belgrano Cba. 1-2
Argentinos Juniors vs. Huracán 2-2

Play-off 2nd/3rd division

San Martín Mza. vs. San Martín T. 0-0
Defensa y Justicia vs. CD Morón 3-3

Well well, Huracán couldn't get a difference over Argentinos so 'cuz of the adventage of Argentinos for being in the first division, they get the right to stay one more season on the first division. It's the third time in a row that Argentinos plays the play-off and win, in 03/04 they played against Talleres Cba. and there they got promoted now in 04/05, and now, in 05/06 they played to avoid relegation.:o

Cordoba still shows signal of life, Bahia Blanca gets ready for super-classic on the second division. Belgrano was better than Olimpo in both matches and got the well deserved promotion. Belgrano will be the only team remaining of Cordoba in the first division, for some short periods of time Cordoba had 3 teams on the first division. Olimpo will once again face their eternal rival Villa Mitre next season on the second division.

Tucumán wins the saint duel. Yes, double celebration for Godoy Cruz, because they earned promotion to the first division and also their rival San Martin Mza. got relegated to the third division, leaving Mendoza without any team on the second division.

Miracle in Florencia Varela, when it looked like Morón had snatched the match with a 3-1, "the falcon" got to score 2 goals in the injury time and by default they will keep their spot in the second division.

A little issue regarding Huracán and Morón situations, both teams tied with their opponents in both matches, this adventage of the team from the top division, is kind of disappointing because if there was away goals rule both teams would've got promoted, or if there wasn't such kind of rules they could have went to extra time or even penalties. Once again this system shows its flaws with the rules.

With Olimpo relegation now there are 4 teams that never got relegated on the first division: Arsenal FC, Boca Juniors, Independiente and River Plate.
Olimpo's situation is another shame of the rules 'cuz of that ******* average table, Olimpo has been on the first division for 4 seasons, this season they almost equalize their best performance of 51 points, they got 50, which is quite decent but just like it happened with Talleres Cba. in 03/04, where they finished 3rd and even were qualified to the Sudamericana, 'cuz of the stupid average table they are forced to go to the play-off and also getting relegated, in top of that Talleres wasn't allowed to play the Sudamericana 'cuz of the play-off, regardless if they would've won or not.

So now the complete to update the teams that got promoted and relegated.

Relegated from the 1st division: Instituto Cba., Tiro Federal and Olimpo B.B.

Promoted to the 1st division: Godoy Cruz, Nueva Chicago and Belgrano Cba.

Relegated from the 2nd division: Juventud Antoniana, El Porvenir and San Martín Mza.

Promoted to the 2nd division: Villa Mitre B.B., Platense and San Martín T.

See you next season.:ewan:
