^^non issue imo....the Americans weren't worthy of the Gold anyway. Plus, how much more can a 12-14yr old be more limber than a 16-20yr old? I'm probably just babbling out of my ass since I don't know much about this sport, but what the advantages the experts are saying that younger, prepubescent girls have over the older, post-puberty ones is their unbridled fearlessness and superior flexibility....any truths to this?

These mostly subjective and highly personal judgement call sports piss me off, man.....especially the diving events.

btw, speaking of diving.....did anyone catch that nip-slip by that Spanish hottie in the diving comp? Jenifer Benitez is her name, I think.

3 Gold Medals, 3 World Records. Simply the most dominant performance in the sprints at the Olympics, ever. Usain Bolt to the world! :D (I forgot another statistic - 11 drug tests... not counting the one he's sure to get after the relay!)

You keep harping on the drug tests, but the only reason the IOC is making an example of the Jamaican track team is because they don't do legitimate tests themselves.

Neither do we. See: Jones, Marion.

I keep "harping on the drug tests" because of the amount of tests the Jamaican team has been subjected to, in comparison with "an un-named major sprinting power". You seem to be quite the expert on the legitimacy of Jamaica's drug testing... how did this come to be so? Regardless, it is "clear" that 11 drug tests on any one athlete over the duration of a meet is nonsense. You do know Einsteins' definition of insanity, right?

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I think they should teach Bolt to ice skate and have him speed skate in 2010, or maybe have Powell do that since he's basically irrelevant now.

BTW, I'm Jamaican until the week is over (except during basketball, then I'm American again).

Today is the Finn's big game - Javelin!

We've got 3 throwers in the final, and we're expecting at least one medal, perhaps even two. C'mon guys, make us proud.

Jamaica's Olympic Committee doesn't have an independent doping commission because they never instituted one. The IOC is sending Jamaica a message: start having tests that are up to Olympic Standards before the games.

I just saw one of the most blatant steals ever. Taekwondo Women +67kg, quarterfinal: Zhong Chen (China) vs Sarah Stevenson (Britain).

Chen was winning the fight 1-0, but in the last seconds Stevenson kicked the Chinese on the face (2 points).

The referees just ignored that, and Chen won the match. Stevenson complained, the referees had some word between them. I'm not sure, but it seemed that while they're chatting, the screen showed the kick in slow-motion from two different angles.

The referees mantained the decision, and the crowd booed. ****in' shame, really.

By the way, Chen won gold in both 2000 Sidney and 2004 Athens. She's fighting for her 3rd gold in her home country.

Stupid referees.

What a norwegian day!

HANDBALL GOLD:

Words are not needed...

JAVELIN GOLD:

Andreas Thorkildsen - with a new olympic record!

TAEKWONDO SILVER:

Nina Solheim lost for Mexico

Kibe Kru

Starting XI
Nice to see the decision on Stevenson was corrected, but it disrupted her focus in the next match, good she still managed bronze, though.

All in all, a good olympics for the Brazilian girls too... a first medal in Judo, sailing and taekwondo,a nice campaign overall by the football girls, once again placing better than the men, the women volleyball team got the gold that so many times eluded them... and Maurren Maggi getting our first athletics gold since 1984...

yeah, but she was thoroughly tested both by the USADA and Wada....just because she managed to clear those tests doesn't mean that she was being protected by her country or that she didn't go through authentic tests, you know? If she wasn't sullied by the Balco investigations, she'd probably still be one of America's most highly esteemed athletes ever.

I think that Phelps has been tested as much as Bolt, if not more, but that's really irrelevant to the point of contention that Keegan has, which is why are Jamaican track athletes being scrutinized more than most other nations'? Pretty simple....because Jamaica is a repeat Wada dodger and antagonizer. Since the anti-doping code was put into effect, they've chosen to ignore the demands set to them by Wada to establish an internal doping agency that meets the Wada standard......the US has had one since 2000.

The US athletes at the Olympics were tested at the team trials before being allowed to compete at these games, but you can't say the same about the Jamaicans....they can claim that their athletes were also thoroughly tested all they want, but as long as it's not approved by Wada, then it's not deemed legitimate.....stop crying and start playing by the rules, is what I say.

Anyway, I do agree with Keegan in regards to the pointlessness of these tests at the Olympics since only the stupid and those who can't afford the good sh!t get caught, you know? The smart ones have probably been clean for a month or so leading up to this event. If they're really serious about curbing the usage of PEDs, then they've gotta start testing them in their off seasons....that's when all the heavy duty doping goes on, man.

I always get a chuckle out of these self serving assholes (Dara Torres and Phelps being two key examples of it) who make bold statements publicly about wanting to volunteer for any sort of testing procedures out there that the anti-doping agencies have to offer at big events when their systems have been exhaustively cleaned of any foreign agents......yeah, why don't you make those exact same daring proclamations during your off season buildup period, dipsh!t?

I'm tired of these drug debates, folks trying to up one another on the level of their morals and principles when they're all dirtier than a decade old crackpipe.....just enjoy the games, man, and stop getting bent out of shape about folks raising doubts about the cleanliness of your favorite athletes or whatever, is what I says.....

That throw by Thorkildsen in the javelin was great.

Glad the Norwegian women's handball team won, they have been playing really well, became a fan while watching one of their group matches.

That's why I've always disliked sports that involved a jury.

.....should not be called sports to begin with! They are nothing short of a farce and don't belong in the Olympics!

Point taken - we should set up an independent doping commission that is as effective as the one the USA has. (Y) Congrats on the 4x400 double golds, no team could touch you guys on those.
