I agree with Yossarian I would like to see more of Dyer in the squad. Butt in for Scholes would completely change the formation, but that may be a good thing. Perhaps the diamond would work with Butt there.

But Scholes never really adapted himself to the diamond formation.

England recently switched back to a flat 4-4-2 with Scholes looking as if the most fitted on left but now he is leaving such a great player;one of the best midfield in the world .

Maybe because Scholes wants to save his stamina for playing at Man Utd matches.

yes, Butt deserves to be the defensive midfielder in the starting 11.
Beckham is the captain of England so i think the manager will put him in the first 11 in every game.
