Pele and Maradona are way overrated

After watching countless of footage and games from both footballers, I've come to realize that those players are way overrated. But don't get me wrong, They are among the best players ever but they are not as great as people seem to say they are. Ok I know, they are legends but still behind the greatest footballers of all time. In my opinion Zinedine Zidane is the greatest of all time, his technique its uncomparable and his vision and intelligence on the field are like no other. He lacks the physical skills which instead of making it less it makes him more amazing. He has done everything for the teams he has played, he has won the Championat, Calcio and La Liga, The Champions League, Intercontinental and the World Cup.

Zidane its the greatest. Maradona and Pele are great but they didnt acomplished as much as Zidane has. Pele for instance, did not play in Europe and everyone knows that World Cups are not as challegeing as Euro Cups. Maradona, okey he did great at Napoles and was brilliant in the World Cup but still not at Zidane's Level. I think Zidane its indeed the greatest, its too bad he is not as charismatic as Pele, Maradona or any South American Superstars, thats the attitute that makes them shine above the others.

BTW I'm Latin American not being a homer.

Stop reading after that pearl, you don´t really know what you are talking about when you don´t even know their respective careers decently. It´s not some footage who is going to show you how great these legends were and why they are subject to veneration worldwide. Maradona did miracles with NAPOLI.

Pele didn't play in europe because he didn't want to... there was a time when liking a club actually meant something... he only went after money by the end of his career when he played for NY Cosmos... (though I must say he's a money whore these days)
Maradona won the world cup single handedly (ha! did you like the hand joke?) in 1986, and he played for Napoli, not Empoli...
Zidane is good, yeah, but there were players better than him... Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Eusebio..... they all meant more in their time than Zidane does now... that's about the only way we can compare them, as times change...

I think this comes back to the "You can't be a legend while your still playing" theory

I say give it about 5 years after Zidane retires and then come here and say Zidane is the best ever and I don't think you'll get many arguments.

Pele and Maradona carried their teams to victory, if they didn't play then it was a huge miss, it is not the same with Zidane, he is good, but it is not like Real is fully depending on him. If Maradona said he is going to make Napoli champions at the end of the season, he kept his promise etc...

omg:rofl: thread of the year...

yeah, 1000 goals, completely overrated....the goal against england(notthe hand:brow: ), extremely overrated...maradona and pele players were shyte, really, i mean, single handedly winning the championship for napoli, playing and scoring in the wc with 17...

i think bosingwa plays better than cruyff did to....he scored such a fantastic goal last season..

Maradona singlehandedly won the world cup for Argentina. he brought a new kind of football, he was able to dribble past 3, 4 players then place the ball in the net. He seemingly anticipates his opponents moves and makes everything so easy.

There won't be another player like Maradona. His football was art.

you could post this symbol ( :sb9: ) the next time you decide to start a thread like this. It would be easier for us to read and you'd also save your time writing.

im surprised it took a whole 33 minutes to voice an opinion that (surprise surprise) tries desperately to validate everyone elses, but in a far less humorous manner.

Gabs, you couldve saved yourself alot of trouble by simply saying "Zidane is underrated" rather than discrediting the work of the top two legends of the game.

people should maybe watch some of Pele's matches, instead of just saying he scored a 1000 goals, and that makes him the best ever...
