PES4 PC Online League

I am definatly up for taking part in a regular onlien league, but I also want to remind everybody of the reality of this whole project. Even though in theory what has been mentioned could work, in practice it might be a little more difficult.

There are numerous problems that we need to realise and be prepared for before hand. The problems are as follows.

1. Time zone differences and when we play each other.
I presume there will be people from different countries joining this league, but the main problem could be between those in the USA playing those in Europe. So there would need to be set times we have to play each other that is acceptable to both sides of the Atlantic. Also, the time we play another person online is an issue no matter where they live, as obviously who ever is next on your fixture list, you wil need to set a time with them when to play. But what if you both cannot find a good time to play each other ? As lets face it we all have lives to lead to. So we need rules on all of this.

2. Drop outs.
Dont assume everyone will keep with their team. Some will drop out if they are not doing well in the league and some will just lose interest. So we need to plan for this ahead of time. How will we handle this ? What rule should be bring in for when it does happen ?

3. Connection problems.
It is most certain that some games we play there will be issues to do with lag. What if we are playing someone and the game is very very laggy ? Do we have to keep playing regardless or can we both opt to play at a later time ? How wil this be handled ?

4. Game crashes and cheating
What will happen if one persons computer crashes ? We obviously need rules for crashes and replayign games. It can be hard to know if the person who says their computer crashes is telling the truth or lieing. I could be winning by 4 goals and so my opposition decides to be a loser and stop playing, but tells me after it crashed ! How can we encourage fairness and honesty, and how can we prevent such cheating ? Also we need a way in which we report the results. How can we make sure no one cheats ? This all needs considering.

Also do we know absolutely that we wil be able to use our own option files for online playing ? I would not be surprised that when playing pes4 online, we are only allowed to use the default PES4 teams (konami edited teams). It prevents cheating and i can imagine the headache there would be with different people trying to connect to each other, but each has a different option file. It is all fine if you have the same option file, but lets face it not every will, as some wil just be playing casual one off games online, and I imagine Konami will have anticipated this, so I will take a guess they have set online play to only default teams. Hope I am wrong.

You can count me in too Wolf, i'll take Birmingham :)

If people are familiar with irc please join quakenet irc network and channel #soccergaming

We could also start a channel for all pes-online players, where we can gather up before the matches e.g #pes4-online

By the way, has anybody thought about injuries and bans? How we're gonna solve them?

I think if computer crashes, it should be up to the person who was playing the person whose pc is crashed. So say if X is playing Y and Y's computer crashes. I think X should decide either to rematch or just be awarded 2 - 0( or the current result at time of crash if of course player X was winning).

I think if someone is very very laggy making it very difficult to play, to cancel the game and try play again at a later stage. I also think people with broadband only should be playing as dial up would be hopelessly bad i imagine.(correct me if im wrong).

As for drop outs, I am not sure what to do about that. Maybe get a list of everyones favourite team in preference and if people drop out, they can have that team in pecking order of their preference the following season.

For time zones, I think either a European and US league or else both players have to find a suitable time to play. - This would be the most difficult one i imagine to try and sort out.

I really really hope the allowance of different option files is allowed. It would be crap if they did not allow it and some players stats would be wrong(christiano ronaldo comes to mind)

Are Leeds still in the game? They'd be my choice if so. If not, any team which could be considered any good!

Definitely up for the league, great idea

I'm up for playing.
I'll take Spartak Moscow.

Whats speed internet is going to be needed? Is 600k Broadband going to be good enough?

Wilco leeds are not in the epl. The team list seems accurate for this season. Crystal Palace, Birmingham etc but as i said no leeds!

600k broadband should be sufficient general jatt. Only connection problems i can see are distances + ping not bandwidth.

Im gonna start working on a simple website on my breaks at college... dont flame me if i dont have it finished by tomorrow tho people. Ill make sure its finished by pes4 release date as long as people agree to actually use it!

Finally if people read back i created an irc channel for us all to discuss the future of pes4 online. So far the response has been poor and that makes me wonder if its worth my time making website. #soccergaming @ quakenet.org please!

I dont have time to go on irc. I hate the format and will never use it. But if it is essential for the league i will use it.

I hate IRC, and i think you'll find alot of people just can't be bothered with it. It's clear from this forum and this thread that the interest is PES Online is huge, so a devoted website is well worth anyone's time. IRC is not.

so if irc is so bad whats better?..aim?..msn?..you are some seriously misinformed people on this forum.....but it does make sense...and im glad people with such little knowledge and sense dont bother coming on irc..thanks to you both!......as for all this planning and excitement over this pes4 pc online mode..its ip to ip...so seeing as a good part of europe has nothing beyond 512k lines(which is below the minimum requirement,,and definitely nothing close to the reccomended 1.5mbps).....and many are at about 1mbps on average..except lucky bbb users and similar.....then you have people from around the world..asia...america..etc......who have fast lines often times but may have bad routing to someone in europe or even their own country.......i think we should all wait to see how all of this has been implemented before we all get so excited...it could be very well possible 50% of us or more wont be able to have a smooth game...maybe worse..maybe better.....but seeing as this is konami's 2nd year porting this great game to pc(pes3 was a pathetic port....lets just be honest here)..i wont hold my breathe.....not to mention.....when i have the option of connecting to a xbl server and playing a smooth game with anyone worldwide with stats..etc all being kept track of on a network....plus no to minimal cheating....illl wait to see how all this is worked out before i get too excited....not to mention..if the game plays as crappy on the pc as it did last year(ps2 controller on pc wasnt as good as ps2 responsiveness but not bad regardless)....no thank you....i truly hope it is good tho because id much rather play on my pc...........we shall all see soon!

What would i use IRC for? I have a job and not enough spare time as it is. I'm guessing you're still at school Reefur - atleast you speak with the maturity of a teenager. I have to regulate the amount of time i spend trawling PES fan sites talking about an online league that doesn't even exist yet, nevermind sitting for hours in a glorified chat room about it. Congratulations if you DO have the time to chat to strangers about whatever it is you deem so important, but i simply don't have the time and i think you'll find alot of other people are the same. Oh, and i know perfectly well HOW to use IRC, thanks very much. Now, let's get this thread back on topic...
