PES4 Ridiculously Easy

He stated he's playing on the Xbox. Maybe the Xbox version IS ridiculously easy.

He also stated he was having trouble on 5 stars in PES3. Personally, I think I probably had an easier time than he did on 5 stars on PES3, yet I too am having trouble with PES4 on the PC. Maybe it's the Xbox version that's crap? Just a thought.

I don't know but i find it impossible to lose with Brazil...I played the American Cup on 6 STARS and won games 4-1, 9-0, 8-1, 7-1 and that one was against ARgentina

Konami could probably make the game harder but only at the expense of some realism...

I can edit FIFA 2005 gameplay to a point where it becomes impossible to beat the CPU, but it doesn't feel right... perfect shots everytime, 100% accuracy on long balls etc.

I do find PES4 a tad easy too but I think the reason is either A) Konami are lazy or B) Balanced CPU AI is just really hard to do

I'm thinkin B...

the keepers are horrible in this version.

and there are some ways to score a goal that are too effective (like when you make a through pass and just tap the ball in, almost always goes in... and also corners throw it in the small area, if the keeper doesn't get it there often is a guy of yours in there to slam it).

Maybe you should start a league with a much worse team than Arsenal. I think in a long run it gets much harder. I played La Liga with Athletico Madrid and it was way too hard at that time so I changed the team to Barcelona and it was still very hard but now I could win games. It is possible to beat some team like 7-0 and when you play the same team next time you have no chance. At least I've had it this way.

A few days ago I was in another thread whining that cpu cheats so I've had a fair share of challenge in this game ;)

Why is PES4 so easy? I find that this year 5 stars is easier than 3 stars was last year. I can remember on 5 stars in PES3 I became frustrated a lot and went on long spells without winning. Now in PES4 on 5 stars I win 95% of my games and don't lose. Ok, I'm playing as Arsenal, but I played as them last year and never found it that easy.

I just played a top of the table clash against Man Utd and I thrashed them 3-0 and it could have been more. In the end I had 9 shots on goal and they had only 1 with 58% of possesion. Van Nistelrooy was no where to be seen.

The marking is attrocious, as are goalkeepers. Defenders are stupid as they seem to just chase after the ball rather than marking. And its way to easy to trick defenders if you just change direction. I find that this year there is hardly any pleasure in scoring goals compared to last. Last year scoring a goal was a real great feeling but it's just all too easy this year.

So for a challenge I went to play online. But in my 3 games all I got was huge lag. Response times seem to be about a second, making it near impossible for me to play. Lag also occurs in FIFA 2005 but no way near as much and it remains playable. And when you put together the inaccurate kits/players that you have to use online it makes it not as great as it seemed. I had much more fun playing England International Football online.

Overall I think this is a poor effort by Konami and I'm wondering whether FIFA is the better game. The CPU in PES4 just doesn't challenge me so what fun is it? I'll probably end up going back to FIFA because at least it challenges me a bit even if it is less realistic.

Win world cup with Northerne Ireland and then we can talk:rolleyes:

I don't think the CPU´s problem is the defensive, it's the attack.

They never make great plays and they never score that much. When the CPU gets the ball we(at least me) rush to them and takes the ball, it's pressure on them all the time and they can't do anything. If they had a great attack you wouldn't be able to put pressure all the time beacuse then you have tot hink "oh, if he does my defender they are 3 on 2" Then you gotta mark and get to good positions and stuff.

For me atleast there is three scenarios on 5,6*

1: I win
2: 0-0
3: 0-1 on corner/penalty/freekick

I think that your problem is that...you is just an extremely good player!

After having played PES for three years I still struggle even at 3 stars. All right, I am not that bad, because with Juventus I have still won five tournaments, but every match is a battle and most games I only win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 - and I still draw a lot of matches and even lose a few. So I do definetely not agree that PES4 is to easy....and do not tell me that I am just a bad player, because I think that I am just an ok player - not a phenomenon but certainly a decent player!;)

If you are so phenomenal, I would apreciate if you give me some hints to how I can win 3-0 on five stars...do you have some secrets?:p  ....I pretty much know all the feints and all the ways of shooting..but still I struggle even at three stars...

You really have to work your butt off when playing on star 5. AndrewC I don`t know you bro, but I`ve seen you hanging around FIFA forum and you slightly seem like a fifa-fan.. every thread similar to this one ended as pes/we vs fifa ..

If you are so good then did you play some folks online if you own an x-box or PES4PC.. or even better get in some PES tournamets and stuff..

You have an interesting point...when I hear people claiming that they win 5-0 on 6 stars...well I honestly belive they are just bragging ha ha....I do not belive that it is physically possible to win 5-0 on 6 stars...because despite being a decent player I myself struggle even to win 1-0 or 2-0 on three stars...

I have won a few games on four stars (for example Denmark-Turkey 2-0) - but in that game I was extremely looky....). But on five start I have only played one game: I was Inter and lost 3-0 against Real Madrid...so do not tell me that this game is to easy:o

When I hear people saying that they win 9-1 on 6 stars...well, I am sorry, but I do not belive them for a second....

UNTIL I SEE IT WITH MY OWN EYES, I BELIVE THAT WINNIG 9-1 OR 7-0 ON 6 STARS IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE....;) ...and people who claims that they do are just bragging...:kader:

I'm not saying I'm winning 5-0 every game. But I do either win or draw every game it seems on 6 stars. Some games I have to battle for it. I had a 2-1 win over Chelsea where the second half was really close. But other times I just found some games too easy. Like when I won against Man Utd 3-0. I had my biggest win on 6 stars and that was against Bolton 5-1.

Sorry, i didn't mean to brag. I do not think I'm that great at this game but just thought playing on those harder difficulties was too easy. I thought it was a problem with the game. But it seems like I must have improved or something because not everyone finds it easy. Maybe I'm just in very good form and I'll come crashing back to earth sometime soon.

And playing with top quality players helps my cause. I will start master league right now with the made up players and I'm sure that will be a challenge. In fact now I think back on PES3 it was probably the master league that I thought was really hard. Maybe (hopefully) pes4 will be the same.

EDIT: I never claimed to be a great or phenomenal player, I'm just stating the facts. The simple fact is that I win consistently on 6 stars. I am not lying but if you think I'm talking crap then that's fine.

If you really want some tips from me... basically I play very patiently and keep it very simple. I hardly use any feints but utilise the different sprint buttons. I find if you want to get past a defender just running one way then 180 degrees the other way fools them a lot. I tend to finish things simply, just a tap of the shoot button. Mostly I just pass it around and keep possesion until I can almost walk the ball into the net. Through balls are very effective and if you pass the ball around from wing to wing you can often find an opening for a through ball. If all the players are marked just draw players towards the player in possesion and then pass it off. I use lots of short passes and find its successful against the CPU. Its just my style of playing and nothing special. I just works for me at the moment.

Anyway, off to play master league. Let's hope I start getting thrashed 5-0 each game... :)

PES4 isn't so hard as PES3 was. Maybe...because there are not so much differences between PES4 and PES3? I guess so. I only still have the demo, and I tried 5 stars. I lost the first game 1-0...hell...I won the second 4-1. But look...I play in 3 stars and I have a bad time scoring goals. The AI defense is great IMO, I can't seem to find space, and normally, I go in a long range effort, which doesn't always work.

But this game is better than PES3. Stop complaining...:/

Winning is not that hard on PES. You will find that those who win by large scores usually have there own tactics that exploit the cpu. But try and use these tactics against a human player and you will get thrashed.

My top scores are
PS2 PES4 6 Stars 11-1
PC PES4 6 Stars 12-0
PC/PS2 PES3 5 Stars 13-0
PS2 PES 18-0

My tactics are 3-4-3 and you do not neeed very fast players as strikers but you do need 90+ speed defenders. What you need is a
good finisher for the forward 85+ Technique and 85 + accuracy (Ronaldo,Henry etc)
good passer for midfield 85+power 80+accuracy/technique 85+passing (Ronaldinho, Kaka,Gerrard etc)

I have also found a way to explot the cpu goalie standing bug in the game. Most of my goals are usually an open goal on break aways, and i score them like henry. You get as close as possible to the goalie and and then slide tha ball to the opposit corner of the goal right footed players aim for the right side and left footed players aim for the left side (This also works for long shots).

I do find PES4 very easy. On 6 stars I win by atleast 3 goals a game. On saying that I still prefer PES over Fifa. Fifa is more challenging in an annoying way, the computer scores pin point 30 yard thunderbolts, or runs down the wing, crosses the ball in and scores unstoppable headers. PES4 is amazing, just a bit too easy.
