Not quite...

I heard his release clause is in the order of €3M. Asking for €5M is suicide, knowing now that he's in the last year of his contract. They proposed a new contract to him, but he's more in the mood of quitting, since there are also offers from PSG, Lyon and even from Mr. Je suis trés content's Rennes.

Even if his release clause is really €5M, they aren't in a position to demand anything to anyone, except to hope Atouba changes is mind and stay in Switzerland, may be signing a new contract, or wait until the current one expires. A bit like Karel Poborsky's situation back in 2000, you see.

If we get Atouba for 3 million Euros it'll be a good deal. He's a great player and will strengthen our team a whole lot, plus he's only 21 and has TONS of potential. He was one of Europe's best left back's this (last) season..

You're an idiot, did you not watch the Champion's League last season? Obviously not. He was considered one of the best left back's in the tourney and was a major part in Basel's successful run. Don't talk **** about a player you've never seen play, and yes he is considered the best player in Switzerland also.

Actually Benfica stopped negotiating with Polga by choice, we don't want Rochemcrap and we didn't sign Ricardo because we didn't sell our best player to buy some mediocre name players (Ricardo the exception). We have a fool SAD? Really? SCP has problems paying daily pay while Benfica is doing better and better financially, not running ourselves into the ground and we actually made profit this past year.

Also it's comical how you and ALVALADE XXI flame Benfiquistas when we say we're gonna sign someone good, all you guys resort to is about this financial ****. But one thing's foresure, Benfica is the superior FOOTBALL team, and that's all that really matters in the end...

U guys(JC_Roquette, Hugo-45-Viana and calve11) are wasting too much time arguing such insignificant things... well everyone knows that last year was not very good to Sporting but after last Benfica title in 94 FC Porto and Sporting are the best teams in Portugal (also Boavista have won a league and done some good european campaigns). Based on this and also knowing that the economic situation of Benfica is very bad i must say that u Benfiquistas are acting like u have the best team in the world ( and u only stay 2nd last year) and SAD, when everyone knows that u still don't have arguments to discuss the title with FCP.
