PREMIER PATCH RELEASE PROevo3PC

Thanks for clearing that up Genesis. I think this will make people far more accepting of your patch. The fact that you have the official support of Konami is fantastic, although i guess we'll just have to wait and see how 'amazed' we'll be by what you've put together.

Sounds great though, and i for one am not adverse to paying for something like this, although you may still find some opposition. If it's being sold as an OFFICIAL KONAMI patch though (i.e with their stamp of approval on it), that should sway more people on to your side.

Can you give a rough ballpark estimate on what it will cost? The fact that the game can be bought for £17.99 (in the UK), i would assume it will be less than this.

Having said all this though, at the moment it's difficult to see what you're offering over the other FREE patches currently available. Perhaps you can give us your sales pitch.

When it's ready, it might be worth considering handing out some copies of your patch to some select people (hint hint ;) ) so they can review it and post their thoughts opinions on the various forums on how great (or terrible) it is. Reason i suggest this is that i can see some considerable scepticism growing up around your claims at how great this thing will be.

this patch has an official feel about it and is no way the work of sub-standard model creators,

Sorry to be hard-hitting but...two reasons why this is a FAKE. First Motson and Ally McCoist have a deal with EA Sports to provide commentary for their Fifa games and why would Konami sign them up for a patch and not for a new game! Secondly, in your quote above you say the patch has an official feel about it, yet in your second post you say it is official. Unfortunately PES fans this patch is a fake, Konami don't support this patch and I have already sent an email to them asking about it. I'll get back to you shortly but don't get your hopes up!

true that, they (other people) try to do this with another game (Ghost Recon), Red Storm (developers) stopped them....so I don't know...

How can you say this was tested and approved by Konami is you have FIFA commentators?
I can't believe you just 'cause you say "You'll have heavier rain now!". That's nothing new for PSX patches for example, you can have snow, rain, new grasses, whatever.
MAYBE I COULD believe you if you make the game run decently in our decent computers, that way you would demonstrate that you really have "hacked" the source code to make your things.

You guys have no right to make money off this patch since it is not your game. You would have to buy the licence from KONAMI first. Of course you won't get it, because modding this game with real kits, etc. is illegal since KONAMI doesn't have any FIFA licences, etc.

Simply put, make your own game, make a patch for it, then sell it.

The more i think about, the more dubious i am of this 'official backing' by Konami. The commentators is a valid point - they will most likely be under contract by EA and not allowed to provide commentary for other games, but even if they could it's irrelevant, as i assume the commentary you are using is taken from the FIFA games, and therfore this is property of EA. So in effect you are saying Konami have given you permission to steal EA's FIFA commentary, put it into an official patch and sell for money? God knows how many copyright laws this is breaking.

And as Del Piero mentions, what about all the kit licenses? Konami obviously had to pay for the few they used (Juventus etc.), so how can you do it, and how can Konami let you? If you are charging for a product that has official kit sponsors in, this is also bound to be breaking numerous copyright & licensing laws, otherwise Konami would have just done it themselves in the first place.

It just doesn't make sense to me how Konami can be supporting this. Once you start charging people for this kind of thing, it opens up a whole can of worms, and you seem to be crossing (and ignoring) numerous legal boundaries here.

It's like this;
Konami cannot officially sanction a patch (and/or take payment for it) when it has content that they themselves have no rights to, and you also are legally not allowed to charge for a product that has copyrighted content (i.e kits, EA's commentary), even if Konami say you can because their permission only allows for what THEY created, not the copyrighted content which they do not own and that you are effectively stealing.

I would seriously check your legal position on this, as it could get messy if you're not careful.
