Thats nearly three years ago now.

The US team has gone forward since '02. By 2006, most of the team will be playing club soccer Europe.

And i wouldnt say that Germany has made huge strides. They did have a pretty poor showing at Euro 2004.

Well, I guess it has been over 50 years since you guys visited Germany and won (despite having to share the trophy with the USSR), so you never know.

If the US makes the semis at WC2006, I will take it upon myself to walk down the main street of Fallujah waving the stars and stripes, eating a big mac and fries, drinking coke, wearing nikes, and singing the star spangled banner as loud as possible.

Maybe in 2010. I read somwhere that George Weah Jr., who plays for the primavera in Milan (AC Milan junior team) is considering opting to play for the US national team. Eddie Johnson, Freddy Adu, and Weah would be the most dangerous attacking threesome in the world.

how much money does USA spend on soccer compared to Mexico? just curious to know both countries budget. USA has been kicking Mexico's butt lately.

it doesnt matter how much they spend... I doubt any country on this side of the world deals with as much "soccer money" than Mexico.

USA has just been producing a lot of really good young talent lately. And unlike mexican officials, they dont try to sell their players for ridiculous amounts of money. American players are going to Europe and gaining a lot of experience... unlike Mexico who only has Marquez.

But at the Aztec stadium... thats another story. (H)

We'll probably have two squads but who knows, I doubt we'll make it to the final so there might be enough time to rest where we'll use one squad for both competitions.

About the US spending on soccer, it has more to do with the fact that soccer in the US is so organized even at such a young age. Young players get a chance to develop well and you can now see the results. They've got a number of up and coming players and a number of players over in Europe as well. It also makes things easier when they get the opportunities to play in MLS, can't say that about the Mexican youngsters and the league as of late. We've some good youngsters but I worry about the future, I doesn't look too good.

Stunna, Mexico is in the Confederations cup as well. How are they gonna pull this off? Final of the confederations cup is end of june, Gold cup starts July 8. Will they use the same roster for both?

the coach said 2 squads.... The "A" squad for the Confeds cup and a "B" squad for CONCACAF.

Drew Carey - legend.

He walks out on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno with a US soccer federation polo shirt and talks about soccer for 15 minutes. He was saying how hes a big MLS fan, and telling a story about how he went to a Celtic-Rangers game.
