Request for a music forum

Hello
I was just wondering if it was possible to add a music forum to the SG forums? I am, and I bet many other people as well, a huge music fan, and it would be just great to be able to have a place here to discuss the latest in the music industry, songs, artists, CD's etc. I would preferebly like to do so here since this is the best forum in the world

There's two sort of active music threads, of which one is more of a postboosting nature than anything else. Hardly calls for a separate forum.

we've had this discussion lots of time, if you really want to "pursue" your arguement, try making threads in the lounge about specific bands etc, then we'll see how popular such threads are.

I think it's strange that we don't have a music forum here, as we have forums for movies, other sports, games etc.

Music is probably more important in peoples lives than all of those things, and I'm sure it will be a success.

What is the reason for not having a music forum?

I've just given you the reason andreas, until people can prove there is more scope for a music forum than "watcha listenin to" and "New CD Releases" then there won't be one.

There has never been any kind of music thread centered around a concept, genre, band or song that has got more than a few posts.

For it to happen, there has to be evidence that it'll get posts in it, as there was with the movies forum when that was concepted.

Well, I think the reason why there aren't band threads, and more music threads generally is because the lounge isn't really a music forum, so people are "afraid" to post the wrong stuff there.

If the movie forum hadn't existed, I'm sure it would be the same way. The only threads concerning movies would probably be the "Last movie you watched".

Of course I could be wrong.

You cant just make a forum "willy nilly" (what a phrase) on the whim that it might have one popular thread! Oh and just check replies in the movies forum, to say "last movie watched" is the only thread people post in is a simplistic and reductive comment.

for me there should be one forum for movies and music. it happened for a month or so, then the music part was "removed" with some stupid arguments (e.g. the threads about music were not good if compared to the ones about films) while the actual reason, i think, was some kind of haughtiness by the movies forum mods, who didn't want to "share" their forum with another.

If this was about a smaller sub forum, and not music, I would agree with you, but I suspect that a music forum would be even more popular than the movies forum, so I don't see your point.

But why not just remove the movie forum as well? And post all threads about movies there too.

Well, this wouldn't just be "a forum". It'll probably be one of the most popular one's.

And if you read my post, you would see that I never said that the "Last movie watched" was the only active thread in the movies forum.

There isnt any other answer, and there isnt any need for any other question, it's such a simple statement and its EXACTLY how all the other forums have been created. "Oh, there's a fair few movie threads in the lounge, lets make a forum", i believe it was the same with the hardware/software forum (way back when )

It's so simple Andreas, that i'm not sure why i've spent four posts having to explain it.
