And how many times have you seen this kind of thing happen?darth vader said:ppl, don't forget that his contract can hold him - even against his will - in marseille. the manager diouf may force him to stay just to show him who's the boss.
zka said:It would be stupid to exercise authority and keep him against his will
A player should never be forced to play where he doesn't want to
ShearerM4 said:why shouldnt they? They've signed a contract, it's about time a club exercised their power over a player who throws his toys out of the pram. Of course they'd be risking losing out on a big transfer fee, but it would be funny.
"My mind is made up and I'm not looking back," Ribery said. "But I'm not forgetting that Marseille is my club. I love this club, I love the fans -- they are the best in France."
WilliamFAlmeida said:I dont think he's going to lyon...
ULTRA SOUTH said:Ribéry signed a new contract with a huge wage for l'OM (150K€/month). He was joyful, he said he loves Marseille and supporters. One week ago he said he wanted to stay and now, he wants to leave? His family and agents are putting pressure on him, he's just losing his career now.
darth vader said:yeah, the problem in those cases is there is a lot of people who wants to earn money with the transfer (of course the agent, and maybe others), and put the pressure on the player. and if the player isn't smart, he can do a mistake in his carrer.
we all hear about real madrid, arsenal, bayern and lyon interest in buying ribéry, but i don't believe those rumors are 100% true. one thing is "beeing intereted" on a player, and don't make a serious offer, trying to bring him on a low price, another thing is to offer a good proposition to really get the player. if it happens, i'm sure pape diouf will let ribéry go (like the drogba transfer).
drogba is a good example: he said he din't want to leave the club, and he got a good offer for him and for the club, and i think he is still a legend in marseille. ribéry should think on it. i am just getting tired of all those players who have this mentality. ribéry could stay one more year, instead leaving marseille like a thief, and he would surely play all the season, instead risking to go to the bench in another club. and for sure next year REAL good propositions will come.
this situation reminds me in certain ways (i know it is not completely the same) one of my all-times-favourite-players: papin. he was one of the greatest legends of marseille (if i'm right, he won 4 or 5 consecutives best french scorer titles, 5 consecutives french leagues, and the "france football" golden ball in 1991), and wanted to play a more challenging league, in a greater club and he gone to ac milan. he never really adapted in milan, and it was the beginning of the end for him. i bet he regretted his choice of leaving marseille... but at least he leaved the club proudly, with the gratitude of the fans.
i'm not blaming the ribéry's ambition in having a higher challenge - and earning more money - but it is the way he wants to leave that i criticize.
ULTRA SOUTH said:Yeah, I totaly agree with you. Ribéry was a hero in Marseille last season, we were thinking he will become the new Papin. He did a fantastic season, in L1 and in WC, I can understand he wants to play with a big team which can qualify in Champions League... But we have Djibril Cissé, Lorik Cana or great young players as Samir Nasri or Ronald Zubar. And without Ribéry, it will be so hard.
I'm not really optimistic but just wait and see. I'm sure he's a good man but there is too much pressure on him at present. I'm still hope to see him stay one more year in Marseille. We can't replace him, it's too late. Ligue 1 has already started so...
darth vader said:by the way, who are the favourites and outsiders of the french league? i don't live in france and i am not aware about the potential of the teams. lyon is surely the n.º 1 favourite, but what about the others?
and even if ribéry stays, would marseille have chances to win the league?
andremc11 said:Don't know what all the hype is about. He's just above average. What he did at world cup level any of other players could have done. The only things dat impress me with him is his strength on the ball and maturity. But Damn some of you lads called Ronaldinho ugly, dis guy looks like frikin shrek. I am not disputing his reputation for marseille but let the guy go and just buy some1 from brazil.Another talent will come!!
people like Ribery has no soul.diroix said:If any team want to buy Ribery, they must firstly agree with Galatasaray at the price..Because Ribery's contract is still at Galatasaray..He is playing with temporary license at Marseille..
