This is a must win for us after that terrible result against Armenia ( :rolleyes: ), if we don't win this game it's very likely that we will not qualify so I won't be surprised if I see Piturca field three forwards at once to start the match. By the way this is Piturca's first match in charge in this campaign after Iordanescu was fired. He coached the NT before in the EURO 2000 qualification stage going undefeated in the same group as Portugal and finishing 1st he was then fired because of an internal dispute with the players and he didn't get to coach the tournament. He came to Steaua and led us to a championship and and domestic super cup and now he is back, he has never lost a game as the manager of the Romanian NT, friendly or official. I'm hoping for a miracle :(.

PS: someone post the Holland players, I saw them in the official thread but I'm too lazy to get em myself (H):(.

First of all, van Bommel deserves to play. Even I am gonna be upset if Heitinga or Maduro gets the nod over him. I hope to see Landzaat on the right and van Bronckhorst on the left. I don't want to see him play leftback anymore, give him back his orginal position. I don't want to see van der Vaart play at all unless it's the #10 position.

In defense, it should be from left to right: Kromkamp, Boulahrouz, Mathijsen and Bouma. It work out good last time.

Attack: Ruud and Robben come in fresh from long injuries. I don't feel comfortable giving them both the full 90 if we have other in-form players. I'd go with Robben on the left, Ruud as main striker and Kuijt as right winger.

Let's show Alex how real football is played (H)

Why does everyone think that we will be owned completely :confused:? Romania has only lost by 3 or more goals on home soil twice in their history. I say it's gonna be a hard fought match and one of the teams is gonna win 1-0.

Romania will lose in the end, Robben and Kuijt will make the goals for us, Romania is a good team but they miss their keyplayers at the moment and Holland is at full strength :bob: for once. I say 0-2 for Holland, even my Romanian gf thinks that Romania will lose. It will be a battle but we will provail in the end, more quality in the team.

I disagree with you Vagegast, Robben should play from the beginning, you saw him for Chelsea last weekend, he came on the pitch and immediately he was dangerous and attacking.
van der Vaart should play also, if only to resume his confidence in himself and to show ppl that he is still a good player.
v Nistelrooij on the other hand is out of form at the moment so I say Kuijt as our deep striker, flanked by Martijn Meerdink on the right (he won every duel from Rat when AZ played against Shakhtar Donetsk) and of course Robben on the right.

One other thing, it will be very very hard to beat van der Sar in this great form :read: so that's a good thing.

It's gonna be close thats for sure. Netherlands shouldn't underestimate the Romanian squad, they have some quality players.

As for the line up. I'm a little worried about Van Nistelrooy, he's completely out of form. Robben hasn't played a full match since his recovering from his last injury so I don't know for sure wether he'll play the full 90 minutes.

so my base line up would be
Robben --------- Kuyt -------- Meerdink
Landzaat --------- van Bommel----------- Cocu
Gio ------ Mathijssen ----------- Boularouz -------- Kromkamp
------------ ------------- vd Sar

but I'm sure not everybody would agree :)

Stam has retired from the dutch squad

Van Basten thought Makaay was injured so he didn't call him up, but apparently he's fit.

Van Basten hasn't selected Davids because he very rarely plays at Inter Milan

Panna: I'd put Cocu on the left and Landzaat on the right, and Bouma in stead of Gio at the back. Then Gio could come on for Robben when necessary. Otherwise (Y)

As Hugo Borst said we have (one of) the best midfield(s) in Europe. Landzaat, Van Bommel and Cocu.

Hope we win this one. It's quite a big match.
