Daniel, Arbeloa should be in for Maxi Pereira in my team. Slot Busquets in Barry's position if he is >90% fit next game.

Also, if Robben is injured next time, put Adam Johnson in instead of Lamela.
Adam Johnson is left footed and crosses unlike Lamela who is a more flashy player.

EDIT: much better team this time. Good stats as well. Robben assisted both goals and Dzeko scored both of them. Excellent work from my backup striker.

I started it like that, but slid him up into more of a 4-3-1-2, which is what they play (or used to) in Italy. I did adjust his player position ticker further back than the other two. To be honest, had you not come back I might have started to go with Wilshere. But this is much better, we can have a Legio tactics pow wow in the PMs.

He is. I'm not sure why I did it this way, I guess because I figured you were going for more of an Ambrosini-Pirlo-Gattuso thing, and in FM it has usually been represented as 3 across the CM line.

I am not devising specific tactics, but I'm trying to match what people tell me in a general way that allows me to keep track of 20 teams. If someone tells me to make sure someone is in a free role, or deep lying, or wants a high defensive line, I might go into the tickers just a tiny bit, but I'm not customizing much. And this definitely includes myself. For the record, I do not manage my own games.

I have 1 player with changed instructions, Maggio, who I wanted as very attacking. My only team instructions are zonal marking, counter attack, and width, all of which I have adjusted for other teams. And while I may adjust some of the player roles depending on injury (I didn't play Reus as a Complete Forward, which is what I use for Benzema), I'm not changing my formation based on home/away or the other team's formation. If Maggio gets injured I'll probably move to something more traditional.

When I was putting Sir_Didier_Drogba's formation in I felt kind of bad. It's one thing for a voting phase (although I don't think he got any votes), but I really think it's going to get exposed in FM. I felt similarly about Keegan's Angry Dragon team, but at least he has an overwhelmingly packed midfield. All those goals against Sir_Didier_Drogba started with a wide open winger.

EDIT: In fact, I'm going to try to get a hold of him, and if I can't I might just do another formation anyway. Xabi Alonso in a role that FM can't handle is just the first problem.

Why not keep his formation roughly as it is, but move the attacking wingers to the middle of midfield (still wide), so they contribute to defence more, but with forward runs. I imagine that's more how Bale at least would play on that formation.

How is Alonso set up?

Alright, so here's the deal. Assistants are going to mess with the lineups occasionally. That's just something we all have to accept. It happened to my team this week, and it hilariously happened to Massive who has been like "please do not play Assou-Ekotto" and his assistant played him despite Felipe being named the starter. It's a long season. Accept it now, please don't bitch at me. It's much more important to get your formation right.

Yes, this week I made all the injury replacements myself to avoid that. The Assou-Ekotto thing was really funny though, and I was actually like "Shit! Should I reload? How did I fuck this up?!" Then I saw that it happened to my team to and figured that Assistants are just going to be dicks sometimes. No Benzema

EDIT: Hmm... I'm wondering if... Me and Massive didn't change our tactics, just wanted to play a different player. I'm wondering if the assistant kept the same squad meaning the same squad as last game instead of the squad I picked. I shall look into this.
