So...Monaco lied to Wenger about Martial and Kondogbia

If that is the case, they are basically the Dallas Cowboys of the Premier League. The say they are going to win the league every year then come up oh so short. Then the press crucify them for having the best talent but no trophy to show for it. Only difference is that Wenger's ego is a fraction to that of Jerry Jones.

Also the Cowboys are not very talented, and only hyped up because a bunch of morons in the 70s started following them and then beat their kids until they supported them too. That's why we have Cowboys fans.

Same thing with Arsenal is it not? Perhaps I should have compared them with the Cowboys during the Jerry Jones era.

We do win trophies occasionally :(

You did but not the ones that matter. It's more of "what have you done for me lately". Where's the league title? Champions League title? That sort of thing. You had strong teams but failed to reach the top of the mountain. Now if Arsenal had a owner like Jerry Jones, Arsene Wenger would've have been fired after losing the 2006 Champions League final.

Yeah, but Jerry's involvement isn't good for the Cowboys. I'd argue firing Wenger would be disastrous for Arsenal.

The Cowboys spend a lot of resources to try and win, they just misplace it on sketchy players. Arsenal doesn't spend unless it's some French youth nobody's heard of.

Generally speaking when you are looking for a good Chinese restaurant you want one where a lot of Chinese people are eating or if you want a good Greek restaurant you want one where a lot of Greek people are eating but if you want a good Spanish restaurant on no account go to one that has any Spanish customers because they will only eat there if it is dirt cheap and disgusting

If Arsenal was right, they'd be Bayern. They are doing something wrong.

Arsenal don't get a free run at the league, though. Bayern don't have much worthy competition. When Arsenal decided to go down that way Chelsea happened and then, City. Not to mention Man Utd was already big enough competition. Arsenal have done a superb job staying where they are, now.

Obviously, the summer window was a disaster given the opportunityf If Arsenal went overboard with their spending to secure the players, the team would be in the spotlight during another financial boom in the league.

The problem is that Arsenal don't take risks. Fortune favours the brave.

Arsenal never take risks anymore. Arsene doesn't have the balls to look at Arteta, Rosicky, Flamini, and Giroud and say "I do not need you anymore."

Give me a fucking break. That doesn't excuse the differing levels of performance in the Champions League. In fact, the cliche is that Bayern's "weak" league actually hurts them in Europe, so by that logic Arsenal should outperform them in the competition, and at least head-to-head. That isn't exactly the case though, is it?

There isnt a single player in EPL that would start at Bayern.

Hazard, Alexis, and Sterling are the only ones. But even that is borderline with how Costa looks.

Yeah, sure. Aguero, Alexis, Hazard, Silva, Ozil, Yaya, De Bruyne, Sterling, Matic, Pedro and all wouldn't get a look in Bayern squad.

As for CL performances, there is no winter break and the PL is too physical. Obviously, there is no excuse to get beaten by Monaco, Zagreb, Olympiakos etc but Arsenal have done squat in Europe even with the best squad which is Wenger's failure.

Anyway, do you honestly, expect Arsenal to be on Bayern's level? How long has it taken Bayern to have reached this level? Bayern are a European giant. Do you really not see that the way BuLi is run with no outside investment in teams allow Bayern more space and time to keep growing? PL, in terms of finances, is a complete different landscape. And Germany have had a generation of serious talent coming through which doesn't happen often. Similar measures are being taken just recently in England.

I'm not complaining or putting up excuses but just mentioning facts. Should Arsenal be doing better? No question but comparing Arsenal to Bayern is dumb. There is no basis apart from a similar financial model.
