I would gladly invite Spain to get their @$$3$ kicked in south america. If they are wise they will refuse.
and Japan in 99 was a JOKE. Ridiculous, not because they were there but because honestly...no team outside of south america can win the Copa America.

SA is hostile ground, ever see a european team win anything outside of europe? :read:

agree, they already play too many games. Let them rest for their clubs.

Besides, the spanish NT isn't really followed in Spain. Supporters are more faithful to their clubs than to the NT. I don't think many supporters would care about it.

Maybe is not followed by you, but when there is a World Cup, there are 6-10 millions of spaniards watching TV

lmao. You beat me to the punch :)

But it's more like 20's, 30's, 40's , 50's, 60's (amazing team in both wc), 70's (4th place in 70)......and then focused On only the americas in the 80s (2 Copas and 2nd place in the third).............90's have been harsh tho. :( (Only 1 Copa America, 1 2nd place in 99 ......2nd and 3rd places in 2 Youth World Cups............I know it's better than many nation's entire histories..........but it wasn't the dominance of the 80's and under.)

btw, where are you from Virgo? It's not to bash....im just curious.

The players may need rest but I sure wouldn't mind seeing the Copa expanded to 16 teams. Here's how I would do it.

1. Brazil
2. Argentina
3. Colombia
4. Peru
5. Uruguay
6. Ecuador
7. Chile
8. Bolivia
9. Paraguay
10. Venezuela
11. United States
12. Mexico
13. Costa Rica
14. Honduras
15. Panama
16. Spain (Rotate the spot between Spain and Portugal for obvious reasons...)

Now that would make things interesting.

I KNOW!!!!!!!
BRasil>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any club in the world

but thats just me.

Also if you consider Brasil, Argentina, and Uruguay....
then you take into account that in Europe only had Italy, Germany, England and Frace....
its only one team off, then take into consideration the amount of countries....

and dont be calling me arrogant. Its not like Im saying SAmericans are better people- or that our lives are worth more. Im just stating the facts. Have fun with them sheesh.

Currently, the Copa America is a joke, and has been since 1999 when teams began sending B sides and Youth teams to test players for the WCQ.

In my opinion the Copa America should become the sole regional tournament for both CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, abolishing the Gold Cup. It'd include the 6 CONCACAF teams playing the final WCQ round and be played every 4 years like the Euro cup.

As for Spain playing, better them than Japan, I guess. It might give Brazil and Argentina a reason for taking the tournament more seriously.

Europe has France, Italy, England, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Holland, Czech Rep all high class national teams that could win the world cup IMO, and has a bunch of second level teams with great quality too like Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Ireland, Turkey, Greece... UEFA is the toughest continental zone in the WCQ, even with more than 10 spots and thats why FIFA reward european football with so much spots.

South America has Brazil and Argentina, Paraguay (so-so) and the others much worst then the europeans.

an european side to get the qualification has to fight hard.

thats cool but for an american copa america, you coould take out spain and put in guatemala aor canada, take out panama and put one of the two.

concacaf small teams can have a playoff of some sort to see who goes in.
