:kader: I dont see how he "deserved" to die. Theres people doing FAR worse in the world than Steve. He was harmless..

RIP Legend.
deserved, was a wrong choice of words, but that a$$ had it coming to him. and yeah, he was harmless, but a complete idiot risking his own life all the time and at the same time risking his two children growing up without a father.

Very nice....

Not fake...staged. There is a difference :jambo:

The wild animals and snakes were most certainly real.
true, they are staged. and yeah, they are real, but most of them they are brought from a zoo or some reptile"storage"place.

That was his career and his choice. That's what he did for a living.

By your logic any man in a dangerous profession should quit once he has kids.

Very bizarre way to go since apparently there has only been one other stingray death in Australia and that was in 1945......I'd like to know what exactly he was doing when this happened since the last thing a stingray will do...and only when it fears for it's life...is to whip it's stinger around.....even if you grab their flapping wings they won't strike.

It's impossible for me to remember Steve Irwin with nothing but reverence. He came accross as a very entertaining, decent guy from what I saw of him, who had a genuine passion for what he did. Total breath of fresh air to wildlife shows.

I'll miss watching him. :(

Did he had anything like 'feed me to the crocs when I die' in his will?

I don't want to disrespect anyone of those who liked this guy in some way, but I find it hard to feel sorry for someone who did what he did for a living.

I feel sorry for the wife and kids, though. (N)

so...if thats the case...then all married men and women who are soldiers, cops, firemen/woman, fishermen/women, carpenters, etc...should just stay home and take care of their kids then???

nird, you're a f*cking idiot.

The world would be a better place if a Stingray f*cking killed you instead, and if Steve Irwin was still around, a fun loving guy who loved the enviroment and loved his wife, kids and his job. Oh, and to even think his wild life documentrys where fake, esp. after he was just killed, FILMING A DOCO, what idioicy.

You are a f*cking sad emo c*nt who should just f*ck off.

Honest hey...

You want honesty... I'm a pretty honest guy. Probably one of the most honest in these forums. And here's a fact: You're a naive prick, and your comments are some of, if not, the dumbest I have ever read on this forum/any forum I have been involved with.

You should crawl out of your hole in which you live and realise that some people in this world, a lot of people in this world, love more than one thing - this guy died doing what he loved doing best. If that makes him an idiot than you're a complete fool for doing whatever it is you do during the day and should stop right now.

He takes risks, but they are calculated risks. He was an extreme professional, and I mean extreme – this guy knew what he was talking about and knew what he was doing, just like a race car driver. If you got in a race car and flew around the track as fast as they do there’s no doubt you’d crash and your chances of death are extremely high. He was a very smart person and both he and his family know of the dangers that he is involved in and I’m sure the majority of the time – just like in race car driving, precautions were taken. I wouldn’t appreciate, if I was the family, and I certainly don’t as a fan of this guy – your usage of words and your outspoken opinion that clearly shows your lack of knowledge on the subject.

Answer me this, is an idiot someone who makes millions of dollars only to pump right back it into saving the environment, animals and the world as we know it? Is an idiot a great Australian Icon? Is an idiot someone so enthusiastic about his work he is inspirational to those who haven't the slightest knowledge about the animal kingdom or the environment? Is an idiot someone who helps out fellow Aussie strangers, or anyone for the matter, who are in trouble? Is an idiot a hero… a hero to both humans and animals? (Yes he has saved human lives)

I'd like to see you at least attempt to make a change in this world, in any way at all.

I’m afraid the only idiot here is yourself. And I feel sorry that his children aren't going to grow up without their father, but they will gorw up knowing what a great man he was and in no way does this make Steve Irwin an 'idiot'.

This is what wikipedia says :|

"He tells his camera crew to always be filming. If he needs help, he will ask for it. Even if he is eaten by a shark or croc, the main thing he wants is that it be filmed. If he died, he would be sad if no one got it on tape."

Weird isn't it. I think this makes it the 3rd in Australia since 1945... there was also one in 38. The creatures only attack when they feel that they are in danger. Apparently he was swimming over the top of the creature when it stuck him - the chances of that happening would have been very low but animals are like humans in some ways - some become more agitated than others and I guess this one felt a danger in Steve Irwin.

I read there were only 17 other deaths recorded around the world (cannot remember if this was within the last year or decade or what?)

The camera man said that Steve swam over the top and accidently boxed the stingray in, therefore felt threatened. It's just incredible...of all the places to get him, the barb goes into the left side of his chest. Normally, they just get you in the leg or something. How unlucky could one be? :(

Ease up Callan. I know alot of people who really dont like Steve Irwin and would agree with some of what nird said. Alright, saying anyone "deserves to die" for what they do on television is going way too far, but you are going too far also in this huge, ultra-agressive post.

What are you talking about mate? Huge an ultra-aggressive? For one this isn’t aimed at you and secondly, it's no where near huge, (you want a huge post, I'll write a novel) and nor is it 'ultra aggressive'. If I were ultra aggressive I'd be using words like "f**k" and other curses. It's quite reasonable. You want a more aggressive post go and read the one above mine. Please rethink your use of words before you post. You should really read it again, your interpretation is obviously different than mine, so sorry to hear such things but in no way is it ultra aggressive – it’s attacking yes and I do insult the original poster but I don’t get over hyped and ridiculous about it.

And I don't have any doubt in my mind that people dislike Steve Irwin - who said anything about that? But if you cannot respect someone for what they have done, call them an idiot and suggest that they are stupid because they are extremely passionate about what they do then you shouldn't even express your opinion in such a pathetic manner.

And no, I’m not being aggressive here either.
